@LanceZierlein Braden Smith comes over from the Colts where he played RT and is likely the new LG (played guard at Auburn) for the Texans. He obviously could be competing for a spot at RT as well. He's a very strong and has a good background as run blocker in gap or zone schmes. Better than what the Texans have had for sure.
I still hope we draft Gennings Dunker. I named my son Jennings a few years ago and that will give him someone to root for.
After reading Lance’s comments I think you’re right. They need to make a trade for a vet center. Going into the season with Andrews or a rookie should be a non-starter. Running out of options in FA, but maybe they still sign a guard. 2 rookie starters and integrating new vets into the lineup is a tall order for a Super Bowl contender.
Jenkins looks like the top remaining C #15 in the top remaining FA’s. There’s probably 3-4 more in the top 100. I think they could pull out a really great O-Line after the draft. 1.28 LOMU LT ERSERY LG/RT 2.59 LEW C B. SMITH RG FISHER RT/LG T. BROWN OT ENGRAM G VET FA C KINGSTON/PATTERSON/ANDREWS
I think they keep developing Ersery at left tackle. And I was assuming smith would be RT, but sounds like they signed him to be a guard. I think they will draft a RT in the first two rounds. Not sure what they’ll do at center. We need another starter-level IOL signing.
If Smith and Ingram are your guards, it really lessens the importance of having a top-tier center. Andrews having a year in the system makes him more valuable than what might be a slight upgrade, talent-wise, in either free agency or (especially) the draft. I would guess RT is now a bigger priority than C, assuming Smith moves inside.
Agreed but if a blue chip center is there with our 3-4 pick, they'll draft him to eventually (hopefully in just one season) replace Andrews
[Tomasson] I'm told #Broncos will release LB Dre Greenlaw with a post-June 1 designation. That's why they won't do it until tomorrow.
I really like this. It’s a very creative way to solve our left guard problem. If that’s really his natural position there’s a good reason to be optimistic that he can be a plus starter on the inside. I see the draft as particularly strong at RT. I feel like we’ll draft one very high and have Brown, Fisher and our draft pick compete to start on that side. No idea what we are gonna do at center and it’s still a big problem, but I’m excited we’ve got our two starting guards settled heading into the draft.
[Demovsky] Officially, the Packers released C Elgton Jenkins with the "failed physical" designation, according to the NFL's daily transaction file. He suffered a bad leg fracture + ligament injury in November.
