just follow the money, as even Trump 2.0 is investing in the sanctuary city, San Francisco.

Trump 2.0's Commerce Dept is preparing to plant a major artificial intelligence outpost in San Francisco, positioning the federal gov't inside the country’s most influential AI cluster. The planned national center is meant to function as both a policy nerve center and a front door for industry, signaling that Washington wants to shape how cutting edge systems are built, traded, and governed rather than just reacting from afar.

Commerce’s California office plans, which sit alongside debates between Trump and Gavin Newsom over issues like gas production and an oil pipeline, show how AI policy is now intertwined with energy and industrial strategy rather than treated as a narrow tech issue.

The San Francisco hub is one node in that larger contest over who controls the infrastructure that advanced computing requires.

According to the Mid 2025 GCIM, NYC is currently the most important U.S. city—followed by DC, LA, and SF.

These cities anchor the four current U.S. power centers, have outsized global importance:
    • Wall Street (New York),
    • the U.S. Government (Washington),
    • Hollywood (Los Angeles), and
    • Silicon Valley (San Francisco)—and.

As such, they are considered “Tier 1” or “Global” cities.

There are over 30 Michelin-starred restaurants in San Francisco; it also has a vibrant pop-up restaurant scence.

Chi Spacca, one of the more unique pop-ups in San Francisco,
offers these interesting fusing flavors, Mexican/Asian Indian/East African

Eight Midwestern universities are opening a shared innovation hub in, establishing an unprecedented foothold near the city's fast-growing AI corridor in Mission Bay's South Park neighborhood

The 3,500-square-foot hub, dubbed Third Coast Foundry, is located inside of a century-old brick and timber office building at 625 Second St.
The space will now host university-founded startups, workshops, and investor events - reflecting San Francisco's growing pull not only
in Bay Area venture capital circles but across the national startup ecosystem.

The initiative brings together several Midwestern research powerhouses -
    • Carnegie Mellon University,
    • Northwestern University,
    • Ohio State University,
    • Purdue University,
    • University of Chicago,
    • University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign,
    • University of Wisconsin–Madison and
    • Washington University in St. Louis.
They collectively invest nearly $10 billion annually in research and educate more than 300,000 students.

Thanks for posting -- I had not heard of this. Vanderbilt U. has made a huge investment in the same neighborhood and will open their own campus there soon. Mission Bay, (area around the ballpark and Oracle Arena, with the $2B UCSF research campus), is now the youngest and most rapidly changing in the city.

    i missed that.

Vanderbilt University to open first West Coast campus in San Francisco

The new campus will be located in the city’s Design District, near Mission Bay and Potrero Hill, and is expected to open to students
in the fall of 2027. University officials said it will eventually serve more than 1,000 full-time undergraduate and graduate students.

The campus will anchor a neighborhood already home to major technology and AI companies.

rumours abound that another Souther Ivy League School, Duke, will follow suit.
