Oil prices have doubled. Might lead to economic chaos

    20% of the world's oil goes through the Hormuz Straight. If it remains closed for a lengthy time say 3 months or more it might lead to a worldwide recession. What effect will an oil shock have in Houston which in an oil capital?

    I don't think Iran oil gets processed in Houston. I think the rocketing prices actually helps Houston oil companies to tell you the truth.

    Higher prices will help those in O&G because it makes it worth exploration for more oil. Hurts everyone else because prices for everything go up.

    This is in response to Trump putting out vague statements about the war objectives being accomplished and markets thinking it will end

    most oil pricing is due to speculation.

    3.50 right now in DFW. Up from 3.20 yesterday.

    So no, gas prices are not down today like the maga toadies here are trying to make you believe.

    Watching the futures today and it is ALL over the place. Up and down all day even though it reacted foolishly to what Trump said. Which begs the question of why the day traders STILL take anything he says with a grain of salt.

    Iran doesn't need a navy to hit oil tankers, they can do it from land with drones and missiles.

    Like show me one piece of news that actually proves that all of the devastation in the Middle East was reversed and permanently fixed in 24 hours???

    No all we have are the words of a pathological liar and those idiots on Wall Street would lead you to believe that his words are more powerful than God. I mean it took God 7 days to create the heavens and the earth but Trump can build a universe in a 30 second long tweet.

    Sure, I could see a recession in that situation. But, despite all the near-term noise, I find it hard to imagine a scenario in which Iran can maintain a stranglehold on the Strait for 3 whole months.
