I used to think Alpi matched up relatively well with Wemby, especially when he hung 40+ on his head way back. Unfortunately, Wemby has done as we predicted and improved by leaps and bounds every season whereas Alpi has essentially stayed stagnant, if not regressed in certain areas. I don't understand it, man...I was literally Alpi's biggest bootlicker (or one of them) last season and now I get annoyed sometimes when I watch him play.
I ain't giving them no credit. They were gifted Wemby. We'd be where they are now if we had won that #1 pick. When Fertita prayed for Wemby God looked at him and laughed.
Have to admit, Wemby's mechanism looks to be better than Durant's, although he should still be in the paint.
