Still with KD, taking 16 seconds to get the ball to KD, or seeing how clueless they are in case they can't pass the ball to KD... I mean you have KD, at least draw something that can get the ball to him quickly and safely.
His idea of offense is to let Amen probe the defense for the first 8 seconds then spend the next 6 trying to get the ball to KD or Sengun so they can Iso from outside the 3 point line.
The team has terrible offensive coaching, everyone has to work extremely hard to get their shots. I thank Ime for resetting the culture, but it's time to get someone that can coach both sides of the court.
Dont get me wrong Sengun is a great #2 guy, but either amen needs to turn into some sort of amazing player in few years, or the rockets will have to mix n match with trades and retooling this roster around them 2, using Eason, and or Jabari as trade bait.
Honestly, I'm up for whatever gets the Rockets better at this point. Just get good assets back, and don't be giving up the farm for someone like Giannis. I like both players, but this fit is not working. I would try getting rid of Ime first, but if Fertits is too cheap to do it, then let's just get people that Ime can hopefully win with that fit his style.
Trading Dillon for KD has really emphasized Sengun's defensive shortcomings. The FVV/Sengun 2 man game wasnt going to win you much, but it was also way better than the KD/Sengun 2 man game.
A team with ability to coach a movement offense? As long as the coach doesn't try to place him at the 3point line to initiate and has competent shooters all around him to create spacing that are willing to cut when necessary. Basically, a vanilla NBA offense.
Not just ime, the whole staff. Literally no player is improving at a good rate. No offense whatsoever. It is as if they are not coached at all.
The roster is problematic and much deeper than amen Sengun fit. You see how quick the spurs guards are and how they can attack the rim. We have none of that. Last year with fvv, Dillon and green, we were getting some transition scoring, now we have none. Tari bari kd all slow on their feet and not good dribblers. Sengun amen can’t shoot. Tari and bari are not particularly good shooters to offset other deficiencies. Too many problems. And no coaching to fix anything.
They can attack the rim because we don't have a rim protector. The entire gameplay for SA on offense tonight was to exploit Sengun in switches on the PnR. When he sags to help defend the driver he leaves a man wide open and can't recover enough to contest. When he switched fox, castle or harper took him off the dribble to the rim uncontested. It was clear as day and it's why capela was the only positive in plus/minus. For how ugly it is, the offense was fine. The defense was exploited tonight and that's why we lost.
You should watch the spurs against other teams and tari, bari, amen, Reed for a comparison. It has nothing to do with Sengun. Spurs guards are way more skilled at it. You can say it produced good results because we don’t have good rim protection but that is a different issue.
