Agreed it’s not the end of the world. I think it’s too much draft capital but Montgomery is a good player. What makes it tolerable is the win-now factor.

Fisher did improve. They may see him at right tackle with Trent Brown. I would draft a RT (a true one) in #1 or #2 round still with Brown/Fisher off the bench.

If they could convince Lindebaum to come here I would pay the premium given the communication issues on the line and it would hurt Baltimore at same time.

This is overly simplistic, but Tytus was getting about 18 million, Juice about 1.6.

So take out 6 million for Montgomery, that savings roughly pays for long term money on Ingram.

So it comes down to trimming fat to get cash for Lindebaum and Anderson extension.

    Cut savings:
    Mixon - 8 million

    Restructure
    Hunter
    Schultz
    Al-Shaair

Understood there's some deadcap front loaded on Tytus, thinking in terms of 2-3 window...

I think Hunter would be willing to extend for guaranteed money taking less over 2-3 years instead of year by year as they have been.

If their plan includes promoting Blake Fisher because he was a mediocre sixth lineman… I may go on a 3-state murder spree.

They have Ersery and I'd bet on them trying at least to keep Trent Brown.

Would still like to add a 3rd rb. It’s not a good rb draft, but would rather save every penny for O-line help in free agency. Gonna start researching late round rbs. Secretly I wouldn’t be mad if we threw $3-4 mil at an Aaron Jones so some other proven rb. Whatever happens this yr, we always need to be able to run the ball. Can’t ever have another yr like last yr in the run game.

Woody might be the #3. Dobbins, White, and Gainwell might be cheap upgrades for #2.

It wouldn't be prudent to throw money at Aaron Jones - or any other veteran back - because they're not going to play special teams and, therefore, become a waste of limited resources.

I think the Montgomery moves signals the team is very comfortable transitioning Marks back to the role they probably originally envisioned for him when they thought he'd be paired with Mixon: a third-down weapon.

I don't think they'll invest much more in the RB room, beyond a possible decent-ish day 2 pick.

my concern is that older rbs (like a 29 yr old Montgomery) are more prone to injury. I just want to make sure we have 3 startable RBs. Forget Aaron jones, I’m just talking about making sure we have a competent 3rd rb. I don’t think that’s guaranteed in a weak rb draft. A day-2 pick on a rb doesnt make sense to me.

I think we should pick an RB in this draft because it is deeper than folks think. Save our top capital for lines and that is a concern without top talent weaponry if we aren’t careful year over year.

However, there is good mid-round RB value this year. Going for Coleman in the 2nd no longer makes sense as he’s stylistically redundant to Monty.

However, if Price is still floating around mid rounds, we should consider that move. Imagine Monty/Woody/Price back there and you start to feel more situated for now and later
