Nick sure has a type in loving old RBs.

It would be a huge mistake to think this should conclude our investment in the position in the draft. Focus on OL, inbound not just outbound, and set us up for flexibility in the draft.

Would still be great to get Coleman/Price in the draft to make it feel like there is a stable behind CJ. Seahawks didn’t lose their playoff momentum when they lost Charb because they had Walker. We need a 1-2 and this feels more like Chubb replacement initially, but we need a top talent to still come in at RB (ideally via draft to keep it cheap).

Hopefully David Montgomery plays better in Houston than David Carr and David Johnson...

After trading Tytus Howard it seems that our OL situation is more desperate than ever and I don't see how we can draft a top-tier RB.

The initial offer was a 5th. That is why it went up to a 4th, Scruggs, and a 7th. Lions are keeping some of the cap hit, which lowers his number for the Texans.

Yeah, the price screams bidding war! This seems like a Diggs type move, 2nd year of his contract is $10M team option and that's pretty steep for a then 30-year old RB. I'd rather have invested in Tyler Allgeier as a FA versus overspending for an aging back, but I'll definitely pull for David to kick ass next year.

Mixon was here for two years and only played in one year.
Diggs only played for 9 games and cost a second round draft pick and loads of dead cap space.
Outside of a single playoff game, Diggs was paid handsomely to contribute nothing.
These old timers like Mark Ingram and Nick Chubb may not have cost anything, but they didn't contribute much, either.

I like this move. Two years of David Montgomery will be big for the running game because he brings a power element they need and he's not a slow and over-the-hill like Nick Chubb.

Upgrading the O-line still remains the #1 priority on offense.
