it means he is going to steadily improve as a pg the rest of the year. iIt means his shot will improve over time. It also means that he is our pg of the future that will be signed to a max as soon as he is eligible. Nobody steps on the court as a first time pg and dominates the league other than Magic Johnson. Give it some time and you will someday become enlightened by this basketball god. Amen.

I wasn't calling Amen a god. I was the deity in this sermon.

Delulu. Amen and Sengun only play well together when they have someone else distribute. The #s don't lie. PGs in this league must be above-average to very good from outside and Amen is years away... if he ever gets there.

He can shoot from where he was.

Hes just not allowed to because the coaching staff is afraid of losing. Wouldn't you know it. They lost anyway.

Did the coaching staff tell Amen not to shoot? Not sure if it's true. If it is, then they should be roasted. Amen's shooting isn't pretty. But it's better than force-passing to Durant. It's more likely that Amen was discouraged by his misses and gave up.

It does feel like that. When the season started he was shooting top of the key 3s and side line 3s and nowadays? Nothing.

Cooper just scored 49 pts with 5 3PA. If I'm Amen I ask for the max or go to RFA and tell the Rockets to not match. This team has fumbled these young guys so hard.

While Capela is playing pretty well, I think Stone should tell Ime to put Amen, and Capela in a pick and roll for nearly every play with the 2nd unit squad, and just see if you can develop his offensive game a bit more. Just tell Amen they want him to really stretch himself in that lineup, and be the offensive engine.

This team needs him to be an MVP caliber player the next few seasons after this one if we do want to be a contender. There is no other young player with his level of talent walking through that door in the next 5 or so years.

He's only going to get to that point if he can develop into an insolation scorer. Maybe not in the same way that a KD or Harden or Kobe or whomever was.... but could he do what Kawhi was able to do in his prime.... I DEFINITELY think so. He's just gotta have the confidence, and be put in situations to expand his game in that way.

I was a little embarrassed about this take around a quarter of the way into the season when it looked like Sengun had actually added a 3P shot and taken the next step, and Amen had a rough start to the season trying to play point guard, but I'm back to thinking my post-playoffs elimination drunkpost was correct after all. We need to build around Amen and tailor the roster around the hope that he evolves into a #1 option, because I'm not sure I see any other path at this point, unless/until we find a better prospect.

.........I am not going to go there yet, I feel it is still early, what I would say though, Kawhi was more like Cooper Flagg in the beginning, not scoring as much......but I see similarities to Coop.....who is a White version.

Amen feels like a shorter Giannis to me, very raw still to this day......still skilled but not Kawhi.

The problem is it would be absolutely devastating if we traded him and his 3ball solidified immediately after the trade. We’d have paid for and invested in the only mediocre portion of his career only for someone else to receive ten excellent years of Alpi.

I’m tired of waiting for jumpers to develop but I’m seriously asking myself if we’re only impatient because we’re “In the box”. We get hypercritical of our assets just like a stock trader who watches price movements every second of every day. We are naturally biased.

In fact if he develops that jumper, I can’t imagine a more perfect player to pair with Amen. Can take playmaking load off him and their 2-man game would be unstoppable.

Major dilemma right now. I’m reserving judgement till after I see each of their characters developing in the playoffs. I’m also a firm believer that everyone without a jumper simply looks worse offensively under Udoka so both of these guys might be undervalued right now.

I don't think there's any urgency about trading Sengun. I don't think his value is necessarily at its highest right now, and we have him under contract on a reasonable deal for three more years after this season. That said, I still think we should behave like Amen is the guy moving forward, and if a deal that seems really solid presents itself, I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger.

In any case, I'd look to acquire a stretch 5, ideally a guy who could play next to Sengun as well as backing him up. Could just be a young player or even a rookie if we trade back into the 2026 draft (Cenac? Steinbach?) And in general, I'd prioritize adding shooting and guys who can play in an uptempo offense.

Agreed there. I never understood why we acquired two backup C’s who can’t shoot when we know we have Amen. That’s coming from a huge Adams fan and I’ve always loved Capela.

Agree; Capela was a head-scratcher. Glad we have him with Adams out but someone who can shoot would be better.

Capela played less than 3 minutes last night. I guess that's because Sengun was playing well.
