Each trip to the store I've been buying various items that go in crap dip but I never quite seem to get exactly what I need. So, I'm wondering if anyone has any crap dip making experience and can comment on if I can make a decent crab dip with the ingredients I do have but don't have. And, no, I'm not going to the store again. It's either crab dip with these ingredients or no crab dip at all(no crap dip please). I dunno if anyone can help me but I hope so.

    What I have:

    crackers - wheat thins, triscuits
    2 cans white crab meat
    mayonnaise
    artichokes
    frozen spinach packages
    french onion soup mix
    parmesan
    colby/mozarella grated cheese

    What I don't have:

    cream cheese
    sour cream

The problem is most crab dip recipes have cream cheese or sour cream as a main ingredient. I don't want to throw a bunch of stuff together and have a gross recipe on my hands. I also don't want to eat plain crackers.

Please help if you can. You can ask me if I have other ingredients.

I need a virtual crab dip program where I can input what I have and it can tell me what to do. LOL. And, no, I couldn't just buy the ingredients I needed by following a recipe cause I failed to write the crap down before I went to the store. Sigh!

You people left me no choice. ;)

I had to put on my "Improvise" hat. I dunno if it will be good or bad but here are the ingredients. LOL

    2 cans crab meat
    generous amount of mayo
    italian bread crumbs
    3(or so) artichoke hearts
    1 package spinach
    generous amount of parmesan
    mozarella cheese
    Salt and pepper
    Olive oil

I mixed up the crab, mayo, diced artichoke, bread crumbs, parmesan, tablespoon or two of olive oil, spinach. I then oiled a glass cooking dish and spread the mixture in there. I then topped with mozarella and more bread crumbs.

It sounds good but I hope it turns out okay or I just wasted some stuff. LOL. This is funny. I'll let you know.

Edit: Yea...really missing that cream cheese and sour cream. While the dip didn't turn out that bad, it wasn't that good. I think that canned crab sucks as well. I'm kind of sick of crab now. :)

Why can't dip be a meal? I don't understand stuff like that.

Canned crab? Why don't you mix it with one pint of spit cup contents (preferably from a geriatric Brown's Mule chewing tobacco chewer as opposed to some teenage skoal dipper), a quart of really old bong water, and two heaping cups of puke.

That should form the consistency of a good dip....and improve the flavor of canned crab meat.
