    they mention us being able to give him the exception. why not the rocks go after joe smith?

    Clutch, I had you figured for a NY Times man. Maureen Dowd, et al.

    Joe Smith is an interesting possibility, but I have never seen his name mentioned anywhere in connection with the Rockets, so that must mean we are trying to get him.

    He could always return to Minnesota, but I have no idea what they could pay him. Personally, I hope he goes to the East and does not return to Minn after his one year sabbatical compliments of Stern. With the T'wolves punishment over the next several years, we are poised to overtake and pass them. That team is going to have a hard time improving without draft picks to trade or develop.

    I don't really think Smith is that great of a player. He wouldn't be an improvement over any foward the Rockets have. He hasn't proved anything in the NBA except for the contract agreement.
