He’s a selective hitter whose patience pays off in walks. He can crush the ball. He can even go the other way. He needs consistent playing time like most players do. Last year he never really had that outside of a 2 week span of time. there are several idiots on here that have been saying that he isn't MLB caliber since he’s been back on the team.
this . He had a good game (I’m glad) but let’s not pretend he’s going to be an avg-above avg hitter suddenly… especially for the 1B position. Yes Abreu sucked and singleton is sucking less at the moment but I’m not giddy at all - give it a few ofers and clutchfans will be calling for his demotion (again)
i'm looking at the RS and ask myself, how the hell are they only behind the rangers when they're so bad with RiSP? smh.
Moving Pena to 2 needs to happen tomorrow. I have faith Yordan will turn things around so I'm fine keeping him at 3 for one more series. Dubon has the best batting average with RISP so he should be in the heart of the order like at 5th while keeping Altuve in leadoff as he has been dreadful with RISP. Also, I expect Loperfido to be in CF tomorrow against a righty.
It's a combination of greatness, suckage, and bad luck. Don't worry though... a huge explosion of wins are incoming.
Last 5 games: 12 8 10 3 (loss) 8 Rest of the 7 wins: 5 8 9 10 3 8 10 So they’ve won only one game scoring 3 runs or less (3-1 vs Texas on Sunday night baseball). They’ve also only lost one game when scoring more than 4 runs (12-8 loss to Texas… a game they were actually losing 12-3_. They do seem to be an all-nothing type offense. Whenever the lineup gets going, seems to steamroll into a huge inning or multiple innings. Likewise, they’re not answering the other team in a lot of games where the pitching is awful.
I just have one thing to say about this game. Jon f***ing singleton having to carry this team. Just like we expected in 2012.
Yeah... shoutout to pitching too. Spaghetti lowered his ERA under 9.00 (LOL SMH) and the bullpen held shop without the Big 3 or Montero. Scott and Martinez have been huge pluses amidst this storm -- both ~2.00 ERA.
