I think one unexpected consequence of social media is that there will be so many that just want to be part of the current "big thing".

In the end none of it has as much to do with anything in the Middle-East as it does with trying to be a part of whatever the participants feel is the big scene.

if every Palestinian in New York decided to go gather at Columbia and make a big demonstration, I might not agree with them or certainly everything they are doing, but at least it would be legitimate.
