Did you know... Jon Singleton has a higher OPS than Alex Bregman? https://www.espn.com/mlb/team/stats/_/name/hou/table/batting/sort/OPS/dir/desc Thats a fact.
Man, how much pressure is Jon Singleton feeling now? Dude knows he better slam multiple HR over the next 3-4 games otherwise he’s very likely out of a job.
There was something brewing . . . i bet we see some additional movement in and out tomorrow. Singleton/Lopo won't be our starting 1st baseman for long.
https://blogs.fangraphs.com/lets-sign-some-contracts-2024-edition/ ZIPS projections were used to devise a “fair” extension for Bregman and it came up with $101M/4yrs. I think all us fans would LOVE that but don’t see any way Bregman goes for it. That said, I do think something like $130M/5yrs with vesting 6th/7th years and an opt out after the first year could be something that makes sense for both sides. Astros avoid a huge long term commitment, Bregman gets another shot at free agency while also securing another bag and getting a shot at a $200M payday even if he doesn’t opt out.
Wow. I would love to be a fly on the wall with all the conversations regarding Abreu. Crane, Bagwell, Brown and Jackson…Are they are all in agreement? Are there arguments for both sides? I’d love to hear what our “brain trust” thinks.
