The old timer didn't understand context. "Crippled" was in the sense giving up draft picks, not on-court having Barkley. Any fan older than 40 knows Seattle was kryptonite. They swept the Rockets 3-peat attempt, beat Houston every postseason matchup before Barkley, and their getting upset in '94 and '95 was a big reason the Rockets advanced out of the West. Referees missed that call in '93 with McMillan and Barkley's close out on Stockton was lazy AF.
Barkley was playing injured When did we get to the western conference finals after Barkley ? @Salvy @ROXRAN bad draft picks or trade? You heard of the Pippen trade ? @Clutch @AroundTheWorld oh yeah when the newbs were finally in high school with Harden That’s when we got back to the WCF
Problem with being a Beta You don't speak up even when you know the obvious answers You are not wrong. Rocket River
Sonics cheated and played an illegal defense the whole game . . . dared the refs to call it every time down That Said I don't think we gave up much in picks They did get two of THE BEST ROLE PLAYERS OF ALL TIME THAT SHOULD BE IN THE HALL OF FAME!!!! Sam Cassell and Robert Horry Rocket River
You're talking basic Rockets history then acting like you're saying something profound. After '97, the decade of "never winning a playoff series" began.
Well this was news to you breh I’ve never heard of any real fan complaining about Barkley and nba draft picks from that era @Rocket River @Clutch @Jontro @pgabriel Certainly not from us who were alive and could buy tickets and walk across greenway plaza from Edloe to get free parking to the game you probably think those ugly dildo uniforms were cool
You are correct Jussie Smollet over here is making up draft picks that never happened @Os Trigonum @AroundTheWorld https://www.washingtonpost.com/arch...rockets/1f30d680-5188-406f-b2d8-e2e95405d759/ Under the deal, to be announced Monday, Houston will send point guard Sam Cassell and forwards Robert Horry, Mark Bryant and Chucky Brown to Phoenix. All four become free agents after the 1996-97 season.
Of course not , I was there when it happened I remember maybe like 10 years back there was some kid trying to tell us 99ers about Calvin Murphy mentioning he didn’t make any 3 pointers early in his career Well the 3 point line didn’t start til 79-80 then he mentioned stuff that didn’t sound right about the 90s I wasn’t there when chamberlain played so I don’t pretend to know about it @Salvy @Os Trigonum
I remember watching Phil Jackson tell the cameraman "get the f**k outta my face" after the Rockets ended Chicago's home winning streak. The dildo uniforms were the worst Houston jerseys ever. Enjoy this live picture Spoiler Your ignorant ass really thinks you know somebody
Yeah it definitely wasn't a draft pick issue. The problem was that Houston effed up repeatedly in the draft. There's the famous 1998 draft where we passed on Rashard Lewis three times. And then there's 2001 when the Eddie Griffin trade failed completely. Other than Mobley and Francis, we basically went a decade of failing to draft anyone with real value. The Barkley trade itself was fine (in my opinion). We finally beat the Sonics and got past them but a pretty blatant Karl Malone foul on Drexler while Stockton hit that three pointer was the difference. Just sucks that age caught up with everyone after that series but overall I'd do the trade again. We aren't beating the Sonics without Barkley that year.
They will be looking for all kinds of Diamonds in the Rough People are calling it the end of an Era - LeBron/Steph/Durant but The reality is its about team management. Steph less so than the other two . . . . These teams cannot maintain these top heavy salaries The Max contract system is finally doing its work The idea of Championships or money . . but you cannot have both is coming Every team that is or will be winning will not be so top heavy on salaries Denver
The best players we got from the draft , Horry and Cassell were the ones traded for Barkley . Getting pippen was the biggest waste that sent the organization into a bad era
Jalen Green + Dillon Brooks for Devon Booker works salary wise. Obviously you'd need to throw in a whole lot of picks, but I'm certainly not adverse to that. I'm absolutely drooling over the idea of having Sengun at the elbow able to command the double team then pass out to whoever is open out of Booker, VanVleet, Whitmore and Bari. And yes, I know Eason would likely get the starting spot, but there would certainly be times you play that lineup. And man, shooting would actually be a strength in that lineup.
Says the guy who rooted against Olajuwon at UH and probably celebrated when Jimmy V won that championship/ Pissed throughout the entire Phi Slama Era. You aint no real Houston fan... just "Rockets-only" Still cheering for the EX-Oilers and actively rooting against Stroud and Demeco... JJ Watt and Andre too for that matter..
