I never would have guessed this would be the case to keep an eye on. The other cases are (a) overseen by a MAGA-hat Federalist Society Judge (Cannon) or (b) run by a DA who didn't have the good sense not to sleep with someone on her prosecution team.
The easier explanation is that Matthew Colangelo is looking for a high profile case to make a name for himself ... much like Dementia Don's lawyers ... except at lower pay. But that does not fit your partisan narrative ...
