You know why Hinch lost in 2019? Because there are no guarantees in baseball no matter how good your team is. That’s why the Dodgers currently look like sh*t with a super team.

Hinch is another terrible manager that was in charge of elite talent and still managed to lose both the 2015 ALDS and the 2019 WS because he is terrible at in game managing.

We know the answer to that and it's "Gerrit Cole in the bullpen"

Lmao thinking that baseball is like the NBA. MLB playoffs are about being lucky. Not always about being the best. The Rays got ALL of the breaks in 2020.

No. It’s losing 4 games at home with the offense not doing jack even back then.

Indirectly attributing Dustys playoff failures as luck. Nothing about luck last year and playing Maldy

The Astros lost all home games that series just like they have done before. Pre Dusty. Keep flailing. If Diaz was such a star this team would not be 7-15. Or does it take a team to play together to win? Pick a side.

I don't think Dusty always made the best managerial decisions, but the guys played well for him and appeared to have fun. He got the best out of them more often than not. I don't see the same from Espada. This team sucks. It's not all on him, just like all the good wasn't because of Dusty, but Joe is absolutely NOT getting the most out of his guys. And on top of that, we are getting the questionable managerial decisions to go along with it. It's like the worst of both worlds!

Bottom line: I see no evidence at all that this team is responding to the leadership of Joe Espada.

Didn't Hader get 2 Ks last night?!?!?!? Keep playing Abreu is like playing Maldy last year. Manager should field the best players to win games regardless of salary. Espada has no doghouse, he likes to be liked.

So many of your pretending like Dusty wouldn’t still be having Abreu bat 4th. He never dropped Abreu in the order last year and wouldn’t have done it this year either. Anyone wanting Dusty back is kidding themselves.

Execpt in the playoffs until he got to the Astros and they made the team idiot proof. Dave ****ing Martinez won a WS title before the "great" Dusty Baker.

Dusty was run out of every organization he ever managed for because his decision making was eventually no longer tolerated.

He managed based on his own thoughts and ideas regardless of what common sense and analytics showed to be best option.

This team lost last year because the pitching just flat sucked in the post season. Looking back I don't see much Dusty could have done about that. Just few things here and there.

But not playing Chas McCormick and Yainer Diaz more absolutely reduced the chances of winning and there is absolutely no logical correct reason.

293 players had at least 300 PA last year.
Chas was 28th in wRC+- THATS TOP 10%
    Yainer was 44th in wRC+-THATS TOP 15%
4th and 5th best on the team

Chas started 108 games. Corey Julks was 247th - BOTTOM 16% and started 77 games.

Diaz started 42 games at catcher. Martin Maldonado was 278th on that list - BOTTOM 5% and also among the worst catchers in baseball in every defensive measurable stat or category. He started 116 games.

Despite being an excellent defender and baserunner, and the 4th best hitter statistically on the team Chas actually only started 8 of the 11 games of the post season

Despite being significantly better than the other catcher in every measurable way, Diaz only started 1 game and it was at DH. Maldonado started all 11 games.

That is why the majority of the fan base grew to hate him just like every other team he ever managed.

Now can we please stop talking about Dusty before I have a stroke.

No but he had a team that started 13-8 and finished 30 games under 500.

2006 Cubs went 53-88 the rest of the way.

    Again, he never started 7-15.
