Of course initial investment is always going to cost more. It’s what is the long term ROI. I’ve made this point before but even ignoring greenhouse gases renewable energy, greater energy efficiency, and also the multimodal energy sources are practical and eventually profitable benefits from green energy.
Defund the Police is one of the worst branding slogans ever. It wasn't about defending the police. It was allocating funds to resources who were more equipped to handle certain issues.
Perhaps, but 3 Mile Island left a sour taste for Americans. Chernobyl didn't help, but a lot of people wrote that off to Russian incompetence.
Nice try, but incorrect. The "defund the police" slogan became common during the George Floyd protests starting in May 2020.[6] According to Jenna Wortham and Matthew Yglesias, the slogan was popularized by the Black Visions Collective shortly after the murder of George Floyd.[7][8] https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defund_the_police If anyone is good at doing what you say - falsely naming the political opponent's policies - it's the leftists. See: "Don't say gay" law - which is an obvious lie, as that's not what that law was about.
Not every PD is a SWAT team, of course. The biggest unit in most departments is patrol, then you have DV, robbery/homicide, gang, vice, code enforcement, dispatch, records, public relations, covert ops, traffic, and various even more specialized units. That is going to vary from city to city. Some cities have huge police departments like NYC. Some small towns have a few officers. Oh, I am quite sure the Minneapolis cops don't want to encounter another George Floyd. I think you are confusing who is doing what. Defund the police was named by its proponents.
