Well, yes and no. It's ultimately Crane's call to remove many of the people who obtained many of our best players and developed a cutting edge system. The hubris of not only axing James Click after winning a World Series, but doing so without a succession plan was really bad. Sometimes rich guys think they come up with all of the answers and forget the people who helped them get there.

No team that is serious about competing for a WS title has a bench with Singleton, Kessinger, and Dubon. If Dubon was the worst position player on the roster that might be different, because he's really at best a 2 with the bat, has never shown the ability to get on base. Then you add in Abreu and Meyers as everyday players. So, there could be lineups with 5 non-threats out of 9. Crane needs to sell the team, or fire himself. His ego has destroyed this franchise.
