Zuck is a Zucker. He's going to do whatever he has to do in the moment to look out for Zuck. I very seriously doubt Trump had anything to do with canning this guy. It's more likely that Zuck wanted Oculus to be his thing, and take credit for it, and as long as this guy was still on the Facebook payroll, he'd have his name and face attached anytime Oculus was talked about.
I don't know what the real reason for the guy's firing was, but this part in the article kind of made me chuckle. “Multiple women have literally teared up in front of me in the last few days,” an engineering director, Srinivas Narayanan, wrote in one internal post following the meeting. Mr. Narayanan didn’t respond to requests for comment. We all know what these "multiple women" look like, and how much impact on the success of a company these types actually have. (Hint: Blue hair, and zero.)
I think you're railing on the hr and community types, but there are a lot of non-binary engineers in tech who are pretty damn good at their job.
Very possible. My anecdotal evidence with them hasn't been that they don't have skills, they just seem to create more drama than the average nerd.
Whatever point you were trying to make, you failed. My first quote refers to the reactions of some on this forum, my second quote just accurately reflects that I am not an insider at Facebook.
And the purpose of posting a bunch of tweets stating that this guy was fired for supporting Trump was what...just asking questions?
The leftists on this board would have their hands full if folks weren't wary about supporting conservative values and how it could affect their jobs. Arguing with random internet people is just not worth the risk. This gentleman is an inspiration.
The guy was fired because he harmed the maximization of shareholder value. I solved it. You can thank me later.
You seem to be a successful person with a lot to lose in “real life”. You also push a lot of buttons here with, let’s call them, unfiltered views. I would strongly advise that you don’t give up your anonymity.
I've held jobs in liberal sectors and communities and jobs in conservative sectors and communities pretty much in either situation if I said or did anything against orthodoxy my ass was grass. I don't think this is an exclusively liberal phenomenon at all. I do think that the jobs where this happens in a high profile manner are typically liberal industries and in liberal areas, though.
I am trying to think of an example of where conservatives would pursue cancel culture to the same degree leftists do. Can you help me out with some examples?
Some of the most vicious cancellation campaigns I've ever seen are intra-right-wing fighting. Come out against Jan 6 or for abortion? Kiss your career in conservative circles goodbye.
