I'm not trying to whataboutism Marjorie Taylor Greene and Rashida Thalib because one is not like this other... but... can you imagine if Rashida Thalib had the kind of power in the party that MTG has with the Republican Party??? I mean MTG literally has the power to replace the Speaker of the House. The person that is 2nd in line for the Presidency.

If Thalib had that kind of power what would the media be saying about the Democratic party??

Let me get this straight, the good people of CO couldn't eliminate criminal trump from their ballot but AL can leave Biden off because of the timing of the DNC convention (despite it never preventing a candidate previously)?

trump tweets out an urgent order for his republican party to act upon... and the former law-and-order party marches happily along... all, to protect trump.

The speaker of the house having a joint press conference with a candidate to continue disinformation about election security... all to continue lies about the 2020 election...

This is really going to be something because the GOP only have I guess now its a 1 seat majority. MAGA Mike has to know that if he leans in too far here he could potentially force out another Republican or two, and swing the majority to the Democrats for the very very crucial period coming up.

Keep in mind that if Trump is successful in overturning an Electoral win by Biden next January it's because a GOP Speaker of the House allows a vote in the House for a state by state vote under the 12th amendment by claiming the election is contested. Then after that it'll be SCOTUS that'll then surely rule on the legitimacy of that vote which could put Trump back in power even if he loses in November.

If MAGA Mike does something stupid like this, and costs the GOP the majority during the election cycle & lame duck a Dem Speaker Jefferies will go by the book, and not do something to damage Democracy like call a 12th amendment vote to gift either Trump or Biden the Presidency.

Had Kevin McCarthy held the gavel in 2020 I have no doubt that it would have changed the calculus of Mike Pence to do the bare minimum in order to allow the House, and SCOTUS to weigh in and take the heat off of him. It's my belief that Mike Pence stood up because he knew it wouldn't be successful, and he could maybe end up in jail given that Speaker Pelosi wouldn't call for a vote, and SCOTUS would not rule in Trumps favor if the House didn't take that contested election vote.

Under the 12th amendment, and given the precedent, The House of Representatives Speaker is really the lynch pin in overturning the results in a "Contested" election.

Here’s a good rundown of the history of the 12th amendment in action.

    https://constitutioncenter.org/amp/blog/the-day-that-the-12th-amendment-worked

A contested election in 2025 would still be unprecedented but it’s precedented enough imo to where this SCOTUS would validate a 12th amendment vote in the house to settle a “dispute” in their eyes.

That’s why when Trump told Pence to “let the Republicans in the house take care of the rest”
Back in January of 2020, he was referring to the 12th amendment route.

It’s crazy that quite a few people here thought I was nuts in 2019 and 2020 when I said Trump would try the 12th amendment route to stay in power if he lost. Regardless of the avenue though keep in mind that the only thing that really makes you the president is the swearing in by the chief justice of the Supreme Court. If anyone thinks I’m crazy again, they might want to take a look again at what is happening over the past few years with this current SCOTUS.

Watch out for Mike Johnson. He’s really a huge lynch pin here. Even if Biden wins, and the appropriate electors are sent to the Senate to then be read by VP Harris, he has an important Constitutional role and I do believe he has the power to potentially throw the election.
