So I have gotten hooked on going to Starbucks every morning before coming to the campus (I have been teaching at the local CC for 6 years now). I know that I am wasting a little more than 6 dollars every time but I can't help it. There are so many different things to get at starbucks: cinnamon dolce latte, white chocolate mocha, caramel ribbon frappucino (too many calories though), but by far, my go-to drink is the caramel macchiato. I have had the cappucino, oleato caffe latte with oatmilk, and the caffe americano - and needless to say, I don't think I will get these drinks again. I didn't realize the americano is pretty much espresso with hot water - a jolt of caffeine for sure but no flavor or taste, lol.
On the rare occasions I get Starbucks, I get a medium coffee. Spoiler I drink coffee at home, out of a pot, like an old person. The coffee is mid-grade, I'd say I spend about $200 a year on it. Compared to a weekday $6 a pop for 48 working weeks, I'm saving $1300.
It sounds like you like the sweet stuff. Beware of the calories; talls have 3 pumps of syrup, grandes are 4 and ventis are 5 (iced ventis are 6). Ask for something half-sweet if you really need that flavoring. If you're looking for caffeine, do not get frappuccinos; they're basically coffee-flavored milkshakes. Source: I worked at Starbucks during college. That said, I only go there now when I'm traveling and need something quick. Even on the road, I'll try to look for a local coffee shop instead of a Starbucks. They're basically McDonald's now: consistent and available.
It’s your money and your happiness. Don’t let anyone shame you. I don’t get Starbucks often but I like the Matcha and Pistachio lattes. I miss Luce in Houston. I can’t find the Island Latte anywhere else.
I’m a fan of the salted caramel cream or pistachio cream cold brew. I always thought it was crazy to get anything but coffee but my wife has turned me on to the strawberry açaí lemonade.
This is my favorite drink but unfortunately Starbucks doesn't offer it https://www.peets.com/products/havana-cappuccino If I ask nicely and the barista isn't a noob they will usually make me something very similar
Does their cold brew qualify? I’m with you. Either the “largest” hot or cold, depending upon time of day/year. That said, I go to coffee shops most days to sit and chill, so I’m going to local ones (with couches and leather chairs). Starbucks on occasion. I’ve also learned that the light roasts are the ones with the most caffeine.
I’m simple. Americano. Black. Would settle for a black coffee but paying $5 for a cup of coffee pisses me off. I rarely go to Starbucks because I am cheap.
And I’d bring large hot coffee (unsweetened/unflavored) to your trench each morning, and say “you don’t have to do this, but thx.”
I don't do starbucks because it tastes "burnt" to me, but I am no coffee aficionado. I do 1 cup at home form the Keurig and my go to is the Dunkin Donuts french vanilla, just the right amount of sweetness
