This isn't fair so I'll just drop some lesser-known hidden gems for this one.

Creed was part of that wave of late 90s nu-metal-ish butt rock. You may also remember the likes of Godsmack, Staind, and eventually Nickelback. It’s just an awful trend in music that happened.

Beastie Boys by far with Faith No More as a respectable 2nd. RHCP aren't bad and I have most of their stuff, but I would prefer to listen to the Beasties or FNM by far than Anthony Kiedis, Flea, etc. Creed? Surely, you jest, Xero!

    Reminds me of this:

I think you can guess which square Creed belongs in...it is the lower right hand corner

i was into beastie boys more than the other bands when i was younger, but i cant really listen to them anymore. for me, the music doesnt really hold up in my old age. that show at the unicorn in summer 1992 remains one of my all-time favorite concerts though.

chili peppers are another band i was into during frusciantes first stint with the band (89-92), but doesnt hold up for me now. theyre pretty embarrassing at this point, especially the way they kicked out klinghoffer to bring back frusciante for a 3rd time and the fact that their singer bragged about having sex with underage girls in his book. and those new albums are incredibly boring. and as far as big stadium level bands, they might have the worst singer/lyricist out there. just shows how good the rest of the band is that you can have someone as limited and goofy as anthony fronting them and still be successful. if i want to listen to punk-funk-skate rock ill just put on the far superior BIG BOYS!

in 2024 i think the music of faith no more holds up the best and sounds the least dated. the real thing and angel dust are both still very listenable.

the other band doesnt even belong in the discussion!

The In Sound From Way Out!

The other three have no idea how to shift into that gear.

I gotta go with RHCP with the caveat that everything after Blood Sugar Sex Magic is GARBAGE.

I fully admit that I am a RHCP snob. In high school when everyone else was listening to Poison, Ratt and Bon Jovi, Me and My Friends* were listening to RHCP. I saw them in 1985(?) at some club downtown and there were about 200 people there. Watching these guys play The Funk with socks on their cocks was like a whole new world for some dumb kid from the suburbs like me. Being a fan was like a badge of honor back then. Nowadays, when I see someone wearing a RHCP shirt they bought at Old Navy, I just think to myself "I know you like By the Way and Scar Tissue, but you have NO IDEA how cool this band used to be."

Ironically, I ended up getting into Faith No More because......well, they kind of looked like RHCP. Same goes for Living Colour and Fishbone.

    *reference for the hardcore fans

The correct answer is the Beastie Boys, but this is a 100% excellent post
