You do realize that Biden didn't do that and Speaker Johnson is thoroughly uninformed (or is a bigot).
The lie served it's purpose, being repeated on network news, right wing politicians (trump, speaker johnson on down), and social media for days...
WSJ Poll: Trump Leads Biden in Six of Seven Election Battlegrounds Spoiler cue the LULZ WSJ dismissals ------- Luke Vargas: A Journal poll finds Donald Trump leading President Biden in the key states that could tip November's election. Aaron Zitner: Biden is viewed unfavorably by double digits, Trump less so. It's really only when it comes to abortion that people see Biden as the better candidate. If President Biden hopes to recreate his path to victory in the 2020 election this November, he has his work cut out for him. That's the conclusion of the latest Wall Street Journal poll of likely Election Battlegrounds, which finds that Donald Trump is leading Biden in six of the most competitive states and Biden only up in one, Wisconsin. Here to go behind the numbers and consider what they could mean for the campaign to come, I'm joined by Journal editor Aaron Zitner, who oversees our polling efforts. Aaron, was this a surprise or was the prospect of Biden running back the 2020 result always going to be a challenge for him? Aaron Zitner: Well, there's no way around it. This is bad news for the president. That's what we find in this poll. And is it a surprise? Not so much. There's been plenty of evidence that Joe Biden is having trouble recreating the coalition that put him in office in 2020. What we did here, Luke, was something that we haven't done before. This is a very big poll, 4,200 interviews across seven of the states that are considered the Central Battlegrounds for 2024. We did 600 interviews in each state. And this gets a little complicated because we tested the ballot several ways. We did what you see in a lot of polls. We ran a head-to-head contest, "Who do you want, Trump or Biden?" But we also ran a ballot that is going to look more like what voters will actually see depending on what state they're in because they're going to be a green party line on most ballots and a Libertarian line and Robert F. Kennedy might be out there and Cornel West. And so we ran a six candidate ballot as well. And in both cases, whether it's a head-to-head or whether this more complicated, but realistic ballot, Biden is trailing by as much as eight points in one of our states except Wisconsin. And Wisconsin, when we'd run it as a head-to-head, it's a tie. It's only when we run this multiple candidate ballot that Biden comes up ahead by three points in Wisconsin. Luke Vargas: Aaron, when we go below the top line figures, is it Trump or is it Biden, can we see more about the hole that Biden needs to climb out of in terms of sort of how he's viewed by voters on the issues, on other intangibles? Aaron Zitner: Yeah, we can take a look at this two ways, Luke. The first is just impressions of Biden, impressions of Trump. When you ask, "Do you give Joe Biden a good rating or a poor rating for how he's handling his office?" It's overwhelmingly dour for the President. Biden is viewed unfavorably by double digits, Trump less so. And when you ask about the issues that people care about, people trust Trump more than Biden to handle the economy, inflation, immigration. It's really only when it comes to abortion that people see Biden as the better candidate. The second way we can look at it, Luke, is what groups are kind of resistant to Biden right now. And this is a real problem. Biden is taking only 68% of black voters. Consider that in most states he was at 90% in 2020. He's getting only 50% of voters under 30. That's about 10 points below about where you'd think he'd be. Hispanic voters too in some of these states are narrowly tipping toward Trump over Biden. That's another problem. These are voters that are part traditionally of the Democratic coalition. Biden can still bring them in, but they're not with him to the extent he needs them to be so far. Luke Vargas: Lots of good news for Trump there it seems. Did this poll offer any silver linings for the Biden team, a pathway to victory, a way to turn some of these numbers around? Aaron Zitner: Yes, there are two big ones. One is abortion, which still is really salient for a lot of people. And you're going to see no doubt the Biden team highlight Donald Trump's positions on abortions. They believe that people don't see him as a quote unquote "Extremist on abortion," and that he has gone as far as to say in one interview that I'm sure is going to appear in Biden ads, that women should be punished for having an abortion. It's not quite good news for Biden, but it's an opportunity. This poll shows a highly unsettled electorate. 25% of voters in this survey are either undecided or backing a third party candidate when given that chance. 25% have not settled on one of the two major party candidates, and almost all of them are going to come home to one or the other of the major candidates. And it just means that people are open to being persuaded. Even when we ask about, "Do you want just Trump or Biden?" We find people saying, "Yeah, I'll vote for one, but I'm not locked in." So a lot of people are not locked down. And we have an election to play out here. We have seven months to persuade people. Luke Vargas: I've been speaking to Wall Street Journal editor, Aaron Zitner, who oversees the journal's polling efforts. Aaron, a pleasure is always. Talk to you soon.
Several polls put Biden ahead now. I’ll say it again that it’s still too early to say any poll Is definitive but the trend lines are going Biden’s way.
Yea, it's way too early to trust any polls and to be honest I don't take a ton of stock in the polls, but I think it's a decent litmus test. I think there will be an ebb and flow for each candidate and it's like who will have the biggest gaffe before we vote. I do find it interesting that such a large section of America would even consider a guy like trump after what we saw him do with his first term and then after he left...............the hate and evil are real and for such a large section of America to gravitate towards that makes me think we have turned a corner in politics and it's not about policy or bills for that segment of Americans, it's about a cult of personality. I always look at the challenger in these races as the equivalent to a backup QB, you clammer for the back up after the starter has a bad game and then when he does come in you realize why he is the back up and you can't believe you ever had thoughts of him being any good.
we turned this corner in 2008, when personality became more important the qualifications, and rather than focusing on their opponent, demonizing the average voter. it's the condescension, stupid.
there's an energy crisis coming, but it's not oil, it's electricity. we don't generate enough of it for AI associated data centers and electric cars. solar/wind won't be able to fill the gap. Nuclear is the only way out, and this administration will not build, or authorize building, what is required. atm, I would buy a PHEV, but not a fully electric vehicle.
It's truly fascinating how you dipshit boomers don't grasp the idea biden sold oil at an average price of 98. This braindead conspiracy that he somehow gave it away is the dumbest talking point. He sold it at the top and is refilling when prices are low enough he can make a hefty profit. Everything about you boomers is nothing but lies and disinformation. What a sad pathetic life you boomers live seriously. I pity you
Yeah don't forget we've also deployed more solar, wind than at any point in modern history by a wide margin while also drilling more oil than ever before. Thwyve invested more money in nuclear than any other admin in modern history. They've also pushed more new transmission lines to bring electricity online than ever before. These boomers just live in their own little fantasy world where they just make **** up The admin has brought online nuclear power plants that were offline for first time in American history while also deploying billions to bring SMRs online. They're literally the most pro nuclear admin in history. Who cares about the truth when you're a old white man in America
