Well Maldy was the worst catcher in baseball (obviously not my disagreement) so there's a lot to blame there. He literally did nothing well. It's crying over something that doesn't matter

I am sure also that Maldy having all those passed balls sure calmed pitchers down and gave them confidence in their breaking balls.
