I will say SGA, Chet, and Williams look great and OKC is in a much better position regarding draft than the Rockets with a large part due to the Westbrook trade. OKC by playing the long game for much longer than the Rockets could (due to the Westbrook trade) put themselves in a really great spot. FVV is doing a lot of the work for the Rockets, and the Rockets need to find a way to keep him or his value as the young guys get more expensive.

Besides for OKC, Spurs are in a great position because of luck. Magic has a lot of good young players, but there is a good 1-3 age difference between a lot of their young guys and the Rockets. Of the teams that are rebuilding, those are really the only ones that hold a candle to what the Rockets have done.

I’m going to zag where everyone else is zigging. OKC has a major problem with their glut of picks. I just can’t envision a championship contender using that many picks in a two year span. It will also be very difficult for them to trade them for anything useful. Does a package of picks for a guy like Jordan Poole, Zach Lavine, or Lonzo Ball (edit I meant LaMelo) move the needle for them? I doubt it.

At least that’s how I see it playing out. It should be interesting to see how it plays out.

Good problem for them to have. They'll probably overpay for somebody, but they also probably won't care that they did at this point.

Okies have to horde picks. FA's don't go to Oklahoma and they probably won't be able to hold on to their stars forever. They need to make hay right now while they have SGA, Williams, and Chet.

Brah the Rockets and Kings have similar season pt differentials with the Kings at +1.4 and Rockets at +1.2.

These two teams are already almost at the same level and their best players are deep into their primes and none of our guys are close to it.

What you do if you are them is you flip those picks to OLDER teams FUTURE picks......and you make yours more valuable as they will be higher when their studs retire.

If you are the Lakers or Warriors why would you make that trade? How does it help them?

Don't trade Jalen now. He is proving to be the team's most promising guard prospect and they still have Cam in the backburner. If Cam and Jalen can grow then you are looking at potentially the West version of the Celtics. The opp is there.

Exactly. Try to throw a reverse protection on the picks they receive. This 2030 pick does not convey unless it is a lottery pick. If not lottery, roll it to 2031. I am sure it is against the rules but they have too many picks.

And don't be silly like that old Raptors regime and let one get away

TMac/Vince would have probably made that 01' Finals had they remained patience

Cam is the Thunder to Greens Lightning, you ride that out and see what may pop off

Nobody can touch the OKC rebuild since they became first seed with a bunch of 21 yr olds and have so many capital left over.

However like I've been telling people Stone did a master class rebuild himself with very limited resources, basically the oldest team in the NBA and Harden wearing a fatsuit throwing ball at teammates.

Most of the Stone haters are totally clueless and think teams rebuild to become contenders in 1 yr that's why they keep hating on Stone.

It's not against the rules - Morey did exactly that twice,

One of the picks he got from the Knicks for the corpse of Tracy McGrady.

The other was Kyle Lowry traded to Toronto for what was a guaranteed lottery pick.

They are already contenders without doing anything with those picks. They are 1-2 seed at the moment.

Houston is not really close in terms of rebuild. They really lucked out with SGA turning into an MVP level player. And we were just 1 pick away from Chet

The Knicks are actually there where the Nets want to be in the New York area......a decent GM with some plans....and group of decent players and a leader in Brunson.

And IIRC they still have several picks left.

If the picks turn to nothing, worst case is that OKC has a trio of players capable of leading the stronger conference 69 games into the season. At this time, OKC can offer the most for any star player that comes lose. Poole and Lavine aren't OKC's type. Having a championship caliber roster with plenty of draft capital is the kind of problem I like.

Other pundits have said this as well. OKC's glut of picks has devalued them to a point that team would command 3-4 for a player that another team would only give up 1-2. Issue being that the team you're dealing with knows you need to offload them and you can't carry those players on your roster. Presti played himself essentially.

Who in theory is the best player OKC could trade all those picks for? Lauri? Other issue is they're going to have to max SGA and Chet.

They actually have devalued the whole market.......

Another day of rival teams' fans question Presti.......I think whatever mistakes he makes it is to a minimum.

The Jazz are in a precarious situation where they do not even have a superstar, sitting on tons of picks and still have to figure out how to get into the Playoffs.
