    But they really aren't.

They have 3 very good starters and a couple of #4 guys and if they need an injury replacement they are in trouble. They have no depth in the rotation.

    Fangraphs projections:
    #4: Bryce Miller 139 IP 4.10 ERA/4.24 FIP
    #5: Bryan Woo 114 IP 4.07 ERA/4.17 FIP
    #6: E. Hancock 57 IP 4.58/4.80

Zips has them ranked #72, #108, and #209 among all SP.

If they have an injury to one of the top 3 guys and need to rely on Hancock as #5 they are in trouble.

His era is north of 6 this spring, so that's an odd hill to.die on.

Now you can certainly make that defiant statement about Blanco.

Thinking a hill is odd to die on based on a less than 8 inning sample in spring is an odd hill to die on.

Well if you tack that on to his 4 years of negative WAR…

I'm guessing the Snell news drops this weekend. Pretty surprised we are going after him. But damn, we are stacked now.

I actually think Snell has very similar overall value to Matt Chapman. A similar contract (AAV right around the QO amount with opt outs every year) seems like it’d make sense for Houston if Crane is up for it. And after already having lost a draft pick for signing Hader, that penalty would be less relative to other teams. More teams can use Snell than Chapman, so he might demand a little more. Something like $80M/4yrs with opt-outs every year, maybe with escalating salaries to give Houston some upside, would be a decent deal for both sides.

I don't generally put enough stock in camp results to be disappointed, but he's absolutely been the biggest disappointment of the Spring. Of all the relievers we were throwing at the wall to see who stuck behind the big 3, him and Montero were at the top for me as potential leverage arms.

He's been completely non competitive, hopefully they can figure some things out over on the backfields away from competitive games. More than likely he just sucks now.

Is there a positive Hader Snell relationship? Or doesn’t matter? Had to be a non zero chance one has an opinion of the other.

Sounds like we pretty much told Boras that we are all in if he's willing to take a short term deal with opt outs like we gave Verlander.

I think Crane would be willing to go all in on an a 3 year deal. Remember Crane is the guy who brought Grienke when we had Cole and Verlander

I agree that Crane would agree to a high AAV, short term deal for a player that he identifies as a difference making talent.

But I think the opt outs are a deal breaker and Boros will insist on them (not to mention other teams have proven they are stupid enough to accept them).

I think if we're getting Snell, it will be on a 1-year deal with a player option. I don't see us giving hime the contract they've been looking for but it's clear no one is at this point...so they'll look to cash in on 1 year and try again next year if he has a simiarl or better season.

Urquidy is best suited for the BP IMO. France as our long reliever

Sounds like a good plan. Need to go all in this year before have to decide on Bregman and Tucker. If somehow all our SP stay healthy and get healthy then move some guys to the BP and fix the front end issues. Worked in 2017.
