I realize GTJ isn’t a point guard. But he’s a great 3&D shooting guard (which we don’t have).. Was just using him as an example of the kind of player we could get with that cap space.
Time to earn that paycheck. HUGE test starting tomorrow in SA. VW will probably show out without Alp out there, but I think Jock will play well. Me TRYING to turn a huge negative into a positive.
Landale is finally showing up and he is looking like what we expected. A pretty solid defender, whos really smart and opens up the offense on pick and rolls. Now with Alpi out most likely for the season and he is going to get more time and most likely excel. Could be trade bait for a contender
As long as he plays the role and doesn't crumble under the slightest pressure that's all we can ask for...
Landale has been very good now that he is recovered. I can finally see why Stone paid him 7M a year. Dude doesn't really put up stats but he is very mobile for an unathletic center and doesn't care about putting pts on the board. He understands his role is to defend, crowd the paint and rebound. Since the PHX back to back he has played very well and showed a lot of hustle unlike pre All Star break where he always looked like he just woke up from bed. He will also have 1-2 plays that surprise you every game, whether that's making a Sengun like pass or like last game where he made that 3. The reality is 7M for a backup C is pretty cheap, Naz Reid for example is making 20M a year and he is still underpaid. Rox are paying Jeff Green 9M this year. If Landale keeps playing at this level I am ok retaining him for next season as the resident cheerleader and victory cigar/injury replacement.
Count me in as a believer in Landale being able to give us 20 good minutes. If he can give us something more similar to what he gave his last 2 teams he would be helping us a lot. He does seem to be moving and playing better recently, hopefully he's turned a corner.
Landale was one of the best backup centers in the entire league last year and outplayed Ayton in the playoffs. That ankle injury must have really fkd him up because he has been terrible for most of this year, even now that he has gotten better he still can’t finish. Scares me a little about Sengun’s return. Blessing in disguise with Sengun being out and Landale possibly starting is that he can get back to form and potentially be a positive asset in a trade instead of just a salary filler now that we have Adams.
