Just listening to interviews with Nick, I genuinely believe he thoroughly enjoys signing the fringe, prove-it, reclamation type deals way more than having to negotiate with stars. In my industry, I deal with a lot of these types of guys who would much rather dabble in lower-value asset classes and minimize risk instead of trying to go big when the opportunity arises. It's obviously a prudent way to operate because you'll never get out over your skis, but you also have to work 10 times as hard to get yourself into the conversation with the big boys, and you also don't really ever get the blood pumping either.

It was very telling to me when they asked him how excited his household was when the Titans beat the Jags in the last game of the year. DeMeco said his family was jumping up and down, and everyone was yelling. Nick, OTOH, said his kids were more excited than he was. He basically just said, "Yeah, ok....now we know we have a home game. That's pretty cool."

 

That should get us to the Superbowl. Can't wait for that 5th rounder.
