In looking over this years crop I'm very much unenthused with the talent level. Many projected top players are barely seeing the court right now and no dominant #1-3 stands out. Could be a good thing as the Nets may be losing steam and Houston could sneak into the top #6 of the draft.

Who interests you on a pick?

    Matas

if Markannen is too expensive to trade for...Matas could be of the same mold

This isn’t the year you want a high draft pick

Reed Shephard is shooting 51.4% from 3 and Cody Williams 47.1% from 3, but may not get either by the time we pick.

Why are we asking about the 5th pick and up? We are slotted for the 8th pick if nothing changes.

Either way my vote is for Reed Sheppard.

If the Rockets “win” and one of their picks moves into the top four or five, they need to take a chance at a high ceiling player rather than someone like Sheppard who is really just a shooter. We need shooting, but you can get that from a proven NBA player for about half the price that a #5 pick will cost you. Swing for the fence, or trade it.

That's what I mean. 5th pick to 10th projected (not up meaning 1-5)

I view the draft in general as one that isnt necessarily bad.
Its lacking at the top, but average after that.

That said, a #8 or even #6 pick may be as good in this draft as any other.

    We need a shooter, period!
Not likely we find the right guy in the draft who is ready to contribute heavy minutes as a rookie.

Another big? For the Astros, the off-season theme is always more pitching!
For the Rockets, it maybe get another big.

Any of them who aren't one-and-done? (over age 20 by draft day).

Pick 5 is basically impossible for us to get.

    40% chance at top 4
    Otherwise 8-12 range

Might as well wait until draft lotto before thinking about it

Sheppard or Dillingham if the pick lands #7 or #8.

Risacher, Williams, or Sarr if we land in the top 4.

We will get one of these scenarios
    • 56.4% chance of a 8-10 pick
    • 43.6% chance of a top 4 pick
    • 17.3% chance of a top 4 and 8-10 pick
    • 9.8% chance of #1 overall
    • 4.5% chance of 2 top 4 picks

Dalton Knecht might be the anti-JG, I'd definitely consider him at pick 7

Because this Draft class is low on Superstars but high on bench players and starters....

OKC, the Rockets, Spurs and East tankers do all get whom they want....

I would not waste the draft pick on a Grady Dick or Jet Howard or Corey Kispert type shooter only kinda rookie. Just sign Grayson Allen or Malik Beasly or Alec Burks or Gary Trent Jr if you're so worried about shooting. Take a high upside guy or just trade the pick.
