At least what goes on with Nets indirectly is related to the Rockets.

Seems like an odd time to fire a coach. They have no real shot at the Play In Tournament so not sure what the point is. Maybe they want to just have a fresh set of eyes evaluate the talent on the roster to see who stays and who goes. Might have a deal in place to trade Bridges to the Rockets this offseason and will embrace the tank.

It makes no sense for them to tank since it does not benefit them unless they choose to try to trade with us during the summer. I'm sure those would be some backdoor conversations that would be on-going.

They are not tanking. The Rockets waited until after last season ended to fire their shitty coach.

    now THAT is tanking

They have zero incentive to tank. We have their draft pick.

Seems they are convinced that Vaughn was making bad coaching/questionable decisions, making it a moot point for waiting till the end of the season. It’s not like tanking benefits them one bit.

Nets are setting themselves up for a solid push, and as they can’t bring in player reinforcements as the trade deadline is gone, they can at least try and infuse coaching culture change. They performed quite well last season after they traded Harden. I think they are aiming for that style of surge…

they haven’t been playing to their talent potential. IMO they should be a competitive 40-42 win team.

The last time they rebuilt they didn't have their picks either. The strategy they implemented has since been adopted league wide and arguably mastered by Sam Presti. They traded what they had for picks, then used cap room to take on bad contracts with picks attached. I see no reason they couldn't decide to go that route. And, personally, I would. They're not going anywhere with these guys and I highly doubt that anybody currently on the team is even still with them the next time they make a deep playoff run.

Unfortunately, they're only 2.5 games back of Atlanta for 10th. They have a back to back set against each other on 2/29 and 3/2, which will be pivotal for both teams. If Atlanta wins both, Brooklyn's season is over. If Brooklyn wins both, they have the tiebreaker over Atlanta and have pretty much closed the gap. I'd put Brooklyn as the favorite for the last spot if that were the case.

They should hire Stephen Silas. He’s a leader of men and should lead them forward.

    Love it!

A 3.5 year deal with a no dismissal clause to get us through the 27 draft??

I don't think so. That roster just doesn't have anybody but roleplayers, and the league is a lot deeper than it used to be. Hard to get to .500 without any true star players in 2024, as we are also finding out. Mikal is only about as good as Sengun and FVV and they don't have anybody else at that level or higher.
