Remember how everyone wanted Scoot in the draft and swore he was the next generational talent

Proud to say I never believed in Scoot for one minute.

Had doubts about Amen but he won me over very early.

Not sure what's changed recently to say Scoot isn't a generational talent.

Scoot has been much better recently and is still just over a year younger than Thompson. He might not be generational - whatever that means - but he's not in bust town just yet

    Save time? It's the opposite.

Making comparison takes just a few seconds. Watching the player grow may take years.

People writing players off- point guards!- after less than a year is crazy to me.
Just look at Scoot's Coach Billups! Boston (and Toronto, Denver and Minnesota) dumped him and he went on to lead Detroit to a championship.

Would like to see Amen inserted into the starting lineup at the 3 and Cam inserted at the 2. I think Amen is already the best defender on the team but his handle is not great. He seems like more of a SF than PG.

Yes, it is too early to say what Scoot might become. It's been a disappointing rookie season but I'm still pretty high on him.

Decent breakdown of Amen so far this season. It highlights both positives and negatives.

So strange with his elite level of athleticism/ skill he can't shoot. How does that even happen?

Mechanics. It's unusual that both of them can't shoot though. How do you both have the same busted shot?

It seems that the Thompson twins' parents are the opposite of Jabari's dad.

Jabari Sr. believed that shooting was the most important skill to be successful in the NBA. So he made sure his son learned how to shoot and practice a million times. I haven't heard know how the Thompson parents raised their boys. But apparently they did not see it important for them to get the shooting skill down. I know Javar Ball didn't think shooting form was important. So his boys all had weird shooting mechanics.

Tons of NBA players don't have NBA dads and became okay shooters as well.

Amen and Ausar would have gotten by on sheer athleticism alone so they never thought that developing a working jump shot was a priority.

You don't have to be an NBA player to know what are the important skills for basketball. Almost all high school coaches never made it to the NBA. But if you are a good coach, you should be able to teach the kids the right way to play the game.

This. The poor shooting is a concern but the glasses seemed to have made a notable difference for him(go figure, you need to be able to see well to shoot!) and otherwise he still has a very advanced PG skill set for his age and some of the things he has struggled with so far this season outside of shooting are teachable adjustments.

As much as I have really enjoyed Amen so far this year, he is much much further behind Scoot at some of the skill based things full time PGs must have. Effectively we are using him as a point forward right now more so than a true PG.

Tyrese Haliburton learned how to play basketball from video games. He's a 40% 3pt shooter. :D
