So your plan is to go into the season with Nico, Tank, Metchie, Hutch, and 2 rookies?

You want to go with Brevin Jordan and a rookie TE?

You then want to go rookie corner out of necessity because you let Nelson walk.

So that's 4 draft picks. Then you want to presumably use a 5th to replace Greenard.

Better trade back to get enough picks and better not miss on a single one...

    Seems risky...

Chris Jones and Barkley would eat up 40 million in your scenario.

Leaves 18 million and picks for:

    DE
    CB
    OLB
    TE
    WR
    WR
    K
    P

    That's probably league minimum guys...

You're probably right. I remember the NFL Championship games against the Cowboys. The AFL-NFL game wasn't even called the Superbowl yet. It might not have even been broadcast here.

I wonder if the Texans could sign AJ Epenesa and Bryce Huff for the same money they could re-sign Greenard alone? I like the continuity of bringing Greenard back but I have to admit that hypos like this would make me question investing too heavily in Greenard for the long term.

dont want to restructure Howard. Whatever it takes to get out from under his contract needs to be done, the sooner the better.

I'm on board with signing Jones, This means both Rankins and Greenard are gone though. If Ryans/Caserio decide to go this route, bringing back Barnett and drafting a DE high in the draft is a must.

I would rather the money being spent on Jones be spent on

    Trent Brown,
    Xavier Harrison
    Swift
    Grover Stewart
    Al- Shaair

We are exactly a month away from free agency. I'm really curious as to who wants to come to Houston to play for Meco and alongside CJ. We keep hearing players want to come but we'll so how much they really mean it soon.

    February 20: Franchise Tag date
This date is the first point that teams can re-sign or offer franchise tag offers to eligible players. The Franchise Tag is a one-year deal based on an average salary for a respective position.

February 29 - March 3: NFL Scouting Combine
The end of February sees Indianapolis host the NFL Scouting Combine. This is one of the significant pre-draft events. All teams go to Indianapolis to interview NFL prospects and see prospective rookies participate in various physical and mental exercises.

March 5: Franchise Tag designation deadline
If teams are to place players on the Franchise Tag, they must do so by this date.

March 13: New league year and free agency begin
Officially, the new league year begins on March 13. Free agents can also sign contracts with teams from this date onwards. However, free agents can enter talks with teams on March 11.

March 24 - March 27: Annual league meeting
Head coaches, owners, league officials and other representatives meet in Florida. They will discuss any new rules, future Super Bowl host cities and other league developments.

    April 15: Offseason workouts
Teams can re-open their training facilities for returning players on this date. Player participation is voluntary, and workouts are gym and classroom-based.

April 19: Restricted free agent deadline
Restricted free agents have until this date to sign offer sheets with their respective teams.

    April 25 - April 27: 2024 NFL Draft
Detroit hosts this year's NFL Draft. It is a three-day process as teams reload their rosters with the latest college prospects.

May 2: Fifth year option deadline
Teams must decide if they pick up the fifth-year option on their eligible players.

May 3-6 or May 10-13: Rookie minicamp
Teams will call up their drafted rookies for a minicamp. Players will go through training sessions, learn the playbooks and acclimatize to their new NFL surroundings.

Just so everyone knows: The negotiations for Deebo's extension two years ago were protracted and became VERY negative. Deebo got so ticked off he tried to burn the bridge and make reconciliation impossible. But the deal got done and he's never been as good since.

For non-49ers fans, Aiyuk is the most underrated player on that team. There are so many guys the national press loves to cover. Even Trent Williams seems to get more coverage than Aiyuk.

Here is a fact!: Aiyuk is a better receiver than Deebo. He's not quite as heavy, doesn't ever line up in the backfield and won't bulldoze some DBs after catching the ball, but if I had to choose between the two, it's Brandon Aiyuk all the way. The Chiefs did not double-team Deebo in the SB; they doubled up the better WR and single-covered Deebo because that was the smart thing to do.

49ers obviously won't let him go.
