Stone: For Bridges, we'll send back the the 2024 and 2026 FRPs and the 2025 and 2027 FRP swaps... Marks: Done Stone: All Top 10 protected. Marks: That doesn't help us tank. Stone: We're not stupid enough to send out unprotected FRPs like some teams. [Stone laughs maniacally] Marks hangs up.
The Nets are not the Knicks and attracting free agents there will be difficult. Without draft capital they can’t draft the transcendent talent needed to lure a star there and Ben Simmons’ contract is going to prevent you from signing anyone until it expires. I don’t think Mikal “Nets” anything in the high lottery so not much to rebuild with. If a star becomes available you trade the picks. If it’s not a star you keep them unless it’s a scenario where you flip this years on draft night for several future 1sts.
Besides the fact that you're responding to a post from a year ago, in which a lot has changed. We do have organizations in the league who are dead set on mediocrity. They make try to say the right things and all but at the end of the day are content with what they really have on the floor. Bridges if they choose to do so can get them a package of picks. The only question is if the Nets hold him hostage for unrealistic offers. We already know they turned down offers previously and I don't think the offers at this point will be better. So they missed out on that ship. That's on them
That was a unique scenario. They were a team filled with young role players and the most cap room in the league. They just overachieved the year before and no other team had the room to bring in Kyrie and KD and the idiots wanted to play together. They also controlled their picks. For the reasons that I laid out in my post earlier, that isn’t going to happen anytime soon. At the earliest it’s in two years after Simmons leaves.
I've been watching their games, they do look like they can have a decent second half of season, but the other teams at the bottom are trending up as well. Memphis without Ja seems to not have given up I think the Warriors will continue to trend up as well. Wonder who Brooklyn will realistically be passing up. Maybe they overtake the Bulls, I am hopeful we get lucky though.
For some context, Bima shared on Twitter that in year 2001, a similarly weak draft, your own Houston Rockets traded 3!!! late FRPs to get to No. 7, which is roughly where BKN pick is at now. The package below is quite fair not going to lie. Particularly it also gives them the option to further up their value beyond the No 8 slot where it’s at now, by tanking for the rest of the season. I will gladly throw in the GSW 2024 SRP. But if they are hell bent to include the 2026 pick, there is no way I’m going to put JG in the package.
Thank you Ben for your contributions to our Brooklyn pick. EDIT: Nevermind, I'm an idiot. Didn't even see the score.
Maybe. Even if so, odds are a lot better of winning a top 4 pick from the late lottery than they used to be.
I'd prefer to see how the season plays out... A potential top 12 pick to add to a roster that will get increasingly expensive and will need a developmental pipeline has its merits.
After last night we have a 40% chance of a top 4 pick, 14% chance of 2 top 10 picks and 9% chance of #1 overall.
A few more losses and it will equate to having the worst record in the nba chances. Take that Detroit !!
