Agreed, but it depends. I've been to Frankin's twice, the first I stood in line like a normal because I wanted to know if the hype was true. It was, but the 2nd time I did it smarter and didn't have the wait.

I remember, vaguely, New Year's in New Orleans in '97 or so. I'm lit and starving and I love Commander's Palace, so I mosey over there. 2 hour wait, naturally. So I look through the window and there's open seats at the bar (I had abandoned the crew at this point, with a plan and place to meet up later). I proceed to walk right past the entire line, while people are accosting me with "Hey *******" and "Where do you think you're going?" and worse, and sit down at the bar. Bar menu is sparse, but i don't care, I see that a bowl of gumbo is $25 (served in styrofoam bowl, no less), which is ludicrous holiday overpricing, so I order that and a beer, scarf it down, leave $20 on the bar, and walk out the back.

I don't see me waiting over 45 minutes for anything maybe if its something I must try and since I can do or listen to stuff on my phone but I hate waiting.

I am definitely not waiting over an hour and then paying out the nose, I just have never tasted anything worth it.

Almost went to Commanders Palace recently but couldn't get a reservation in time. Ended up eating at a restaurant called Lilette and it was the best meal I'd had in at least 2 years. If NO didn't have the flood concerns I would try to live in the Garden District.

I would weigh 300 lbs if I lived there. I love that place so much.

Next time you're back, check this place out, one of my favorite restaurants in the US:

This is a very good restaurant.

You know food - you pay attention to detail in your own cooking as well --- we would get along.

Cochon opened up “Cochone Butcher” right next door. Locally sourced everything making sandwiches and other treats. I had duck pastrami sandwiches as an app…. Ate a cuban after that. Very amazing.

    Y’all need to try Shaya.

Oh wow. I missed this post, but that place looks awesome. I absolutely looooove Med-style food in all of its iterations.

Growing up in Houston spoiled me, it's a 3 hour tour for me to get a proper meal of that sort.

Shiiiiiit.... forget the Real Housewives of Atlanta.

They need a show on Turkey Leg Hut.... from what I have heard from friends in the restaurant business, it is WILD all the way around.... from constant cheek clapping, to armed restaurant employees and customers.... to drugs constantly being consumed, to drama and fights.... ladies and men throwing down with each other.

I know a BWB that said she was "scared to go because of the customers".... she should be scared of the people that work there.
