This is my expectation as well. I’m not trying to piss on the parade but this is more about Adams as a contract than a rotation player. I just wish Stone had more creativity instead of just bedding over in trades.
He has immediate value as a contract.....for the player to come back you have to get him through rehabilitation.....and rigorous training and he might just come back as % of what he was. Bigs also re-injure when getting older.
2024 second-round pick via OKC, a conditional '24 second-rounder most favorable of Brooklyn’s own (protected 55-58) Golden State’s own (protected 56-58); a 2025 second-rounder (more favorable of Houston’s own)
They tried the draft and stash with Capella, but he flat out told them he wasn’t having any of that. He forced his way onto the team (I am aware Capella was a first round pick). but I don’t know if that is even allowed under the latest CBA. It was a Morey favorite move, to draft and stash 2nd rounders, and why I remembered 2nd round picks being highly desirable.
For some reason I wasn't even thinking about the Dillon connection--dumb on my part. Maybe part of why we wanted him? Those two were definitely their enforcers.
It's actually incredible that Adams is still just 30 years old. He gives almost Uncle Jeff level veteran vibes. We have the only 30 year old 20 year NBA vet in the world.
After simmering a few hours. I like the trade. The Rockets traded Victor who won’t play this season and will be a free agent in the summer, for Adam’s who won’t play this season, but he will be here next season. Essentially this trade is three 2nd round picks for Adam’s who will play next season. Adams’s at 12.4 million is good value; and being able to get an elite bruiser/center for 1 year at the cost of 3 2nd round flyers, is a steal. And in case Adam’s can’t recover from the surgery, which is a possibility. You trade his contract to another team looking for cap relief.
