Didn't need some over-sized Yankee underground rat to tell me this. Highs in the mid to high '60's for the next 10 days here in Southern Oklahoma.

There is starting to be some buzz about possibly another Polar Vortex event in late February.

Nothing definite yet, but perhaps wait a few weeks before retiring your Winter Coat for the season.

It hit 57 degrees in Minneapolis shattering a record temp. It’s likely to hit the 50’s again today and tomorrow.

    This is what we're expecting.

It's coming up on that time to make the decision: can I plant my garden yet? On several occasions I've either planted too early (then a late freeze murders everything) or waited too late (then an early heat spell in June also murders everything)

    Yay Texas!

I had decent luck starting okra in cups and transplanting once they got established.

Never tried transplanting cucumbers and squash.

Okra and eggplant love heat, so I've always started them late.

Tomatoes and cucumbers and squash are the early ones, and they can't tolerate a freeze.

    Most peppers just don't give a ****.

I've had good luck starting heirloom stuff in pea pots, the rest of it I just buy starters.

There appeared to be a Freeze in your area this past weekend and now warm weather is predicted for a while.

Are the next few weeks the usual time window to plant your garden or is Mid March the usual?

Yes, Okra is like Cotton in favoring warm - hot weather.

A discussion about water temperatures in the Atlantic Ocean and how it might be an active Hurricane Season.

It is a bit early for the 2024 Hurricane thread, so will stash the link here for now.

What a pathetic winter! I would not be shocked if Texas temps end up 115 - 120 degrees this summer at their peak. It's going to be a sizzler.
