It’s dumb. Like fake balls for fixed animals.

The only thing it’s good for is letting people know you’re driving a car so they don’t walk out in the street while not paying attention.

I think it sounds pretty good. It's not my preference, but I can see how some would like it.

Since it can be turned off, I don't see as a big deal at all, similar to the fake gear mode on the Hyundai Ioniq5 N.

Most modern cars are all about catering to 'wants' anyways. No one 'needs' fast acceleration, whisper quiet cabin, or soft touch leather. As long what makes someone enjoy their car doesn't interfere with my life, I don't care what other people do at all.

On a practical side, having a loud pedestrian warning sound can be useful. We constantly end up 'tailing' pedestrians waiting for them to move in the Escape PHEV because it's so quiet at low speeds. The ID4 has a much louder warning sound at low speeds that we haven't had that issue at all. I wish the sound isn't so audible inside the car, but I am glad it's there for the pedestrians.

not that I would want it or get the extra option.....cars have been augmenting engine noises for a while now.

at this point, it's silly to cling on to engine sounds. if you are going to get an EV, embrace it.

I'll also add that Porche Fake Engine Noise is a very BMW thing to do.

i am griping about the $200 part. not the having to pay part.

    15,000 miles a year.
    20 mpg

= 750 gallons. tax rate on gas per gallon is 20 cents. = $150.

    $200 assumes I use 1000 gallons a year. (say 20K at 20mpg)

which EV driver is driving 20,000 miles??

why isnt there a higher tax for monster trucks?

what is this poverty credit of which you speak?

The income caps for new vehicles are: $300,000 for married couples filing jointly. $225,000 for heads of households. $150,000 for all other filers.

    workaround of course is lease.

340m real world range and ~80% recharged in 16mins. Getting much closer.

    https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a46616975/2025-porsche-taycan-prototype-range-test/

After traveling 313.2 miles, the pack showed 8 percent charge and 24 miles of remaining range. Running our driving data through our regression chart suggested a total driving range of 340 miles (rounded down to the nearest 10, as with all our range figures)

This charging session was slightly different than our normal procedure, as we began with the battery at the aforementioned 8 percent compared to our usual 10. However, that proved to be insignificant. Almost immediately, the charging rate zoomed past 290 kilowatts. It quickly reached a 327-kW peak, and by the time eight minutes had passed, the battery had eclipsed a 50 percent state of charge. The rate remained above 200 kilowatts until the battery was three-quarters full, and at 16 minutes, 20 seconds, it reached 80 percent.
