why would we sign a stud LB when DeMeco can just develop them in house?

Save money on signing elite d-lineman or the secondary, let DeMeco coach up the LBs

Spending $17.5M/yr for 5 years may not be viable for a LB.

Obviously, one of the 20-20 hindsight conversations about Stroud’s rookie season is how did the vast majority of professionals paid to scout and assess pro prospects get C.J. Stroud so wrong? Pinpoint accuracy had to be on tape, and this has always been a top trait for assessing NFL QB success. So was it simply the long history of Ohio State QB’s translating small to the NFL? Or perhaps that Stroud benefitted from what were graded as several top NFL prospect WR’s at Ohio State? I wonder what Stroud’s TD/INT ratio was at OSU? Is it possible that Slowik/Demeco unlocked that cheat code using their experiences managing lower-tier QB’s w/ The Niners, and that Stroud’s college TD/INT ratio wasn’t anywhere near as on display as it’s been during his Texans rookie season? I’m well aware that 1st RD NFL QB selections historically are a 50-50 proposition in success rate which statistically makes drafting the position a crap shoot.

Actually, interesting points of discussion. I mean, people passed on Tom Brady all the way down to #199 so going #2 instead of #1 in the draft is not a huge drop off, but curious nonetheless. I also wonder on top of your other points, how are his WRs doing in the NFL? How much of their high rating was based on CJ as a factor?

Exactly, and I almost added that point about The OSU WR’s myself. JSN certainly flashed with The Seahawks, but certainly didn’t display immediate eliteness like Chase or a Jefferson granted he was drafted into a crowded WR room. Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave are hard to grade due to their NFL QB situations though both have showed signs of being NFL elite yet not quite reaching that status statistically. Definitely another interesting conversation to monitor as Marvin Harrison’s draft process gets underway

I mean, if you created the S2 you’d kinda have to say that after a high-profile QB basically shattered your credibility.

There really is no coming back for the S2 test company. They are better off shuttering it and trying something else

Honestly, I get what they're saying, and it's totally plausible. Them taking 11 months to come out and say it, though...screams of CYA PR bullsh!t

Who gives a damn. Zack Wilson and Bryce scored off the charts on that meaningless test and look at them and look at CJ the MF Great

I feel bad for Young. By all accounts he's a stand up guy and works extremely hard. Wilson seems like a douchebag so I don't feel bad for him

I believe that Dan Marino had one of the worst, if not THE worst wunderlich for a QB in history. He turned out ok.

Stroud serenity and his peace of mind gives an advantage against anyone.

That with his preparation is why the game is so slow for him.

Wish him the best. Go Texans.
