I love Tari, but is this even a question? Cam as a 19 year old rookie has more scoring punch and finishing ability than Tari does as a 22 year old sophomore. The upside clearly favors Cam. It's not like Tari's had some massive leap in his second season, he's still primarily a hustle guy. Players in that role are often fan favorites, but rarely "untouchable". It'd be like calling Pat Bev untouchable.
To think after everyone was praising how deep the 2021 NBA draft is, but three years later seems Sengun and maybe Barnes are the true gems of that draft (might include Suggs if he really does fix his shot)
I would keep Cam as long as I can though, just a hunch, he would be good item to have. Amen is too raw but would want to keep him a few years if possible. This trade dealine does not offer too many good players .....so I would pass on them.
I am not giving up on Jalen. However it is getting a bit frustrating how he very often makes the wrong decision. When he gets the ball he seems to already decide if he should score or pass and not adapt to what the defense is doing. Very often he is only using the screen to get his midrange shot. He takes very bad shots, and currently isn't making them. Another thing I keep hearing is how fast Jalens first step is. However I just do not see that. Very often he doesn't get past his defender with his first step in isolations. He is just not a good isolation player, ball handling creator. He could be very good off the ball taking the open shots and attacking the close out. If he just focusses on that he would be much more valuable. Basically do what Whitmore is doing.
It’s time to move on because his salary doesn’t match his play. His position within the team’s hierarchy doesn’t match his play. His inconsistent development seems like a long term liability if given the opportunity to become one. He hasn’t changed the organization did.
The organization changing is not Jalen’s fault. If placed in the right setting JG may become what he was advertised to be. Most have moved on from the Green dream because other players seem closer to making their presents reality. Time is valuable but are we wasting it or not giving it because we are overwhelmed with youth?
What's telling is how frequently Jalen is the focal point of opposing teams' highlight reels: I've lost count of instances of back turned, lost assignment, blown coverage, no man's land, etc. from Jalen in these 2 reels alone. If he's this lost on defense, one can't help but wonder whether he fundamentally lacks recognition of offensive opportunities/creation. He's either lazy or dumb (or both), and neither is good.
Year 1 and 2 he had what I would consider the appropriate amount of games where he “popped” that led me to believe there was serious potential to bank on. Year 3 those games have become rarer. Not a good sign.
I wish this site had a feature to block users. We wouldn't have to read the writings of 17-18 year old kids who are trying to realize themselves by slandering others. You can rage on this site as much as you want. Be a Jalen fan, Sengun fan, Bari fan. Try to compare these young people with each other. They know they are the future of the Rockets, and they are happy to be on the same team. They don't care about what you write. They will succeed together. Facts.
