A 38% shooter PF/SF isn't what we need? HB means no more Tate there, he backs up Jabari as well.

I'm not surprised at all. Stone always suck at the trade deadlines.

Only way I’d be accepting of this trade is if Tate is included

    The Rockets FO is clueless.

Trading for a PF when you already have Jabari, Tari and Jeff?

Go get a Shooting Guard, a backup big and a competent backup pg, clowns.

“A level of interest” is pretty vague. A low level is still a level.

This is true. My expectations aren't high but I am hoping it will be different for a non tanking deadline...

My first thought: Tari's injury won't heal this season!

As far as what Harrison Barnes brings to the table, it's pretty obvious he would help the Rockets win more games. I don't like that his contract is for two more years but, then again, he would be easily tradeable over the summer.

Tate could be part of the deal if it happens but they might keep him for 3rd string depth and garbage time.

I like Barnes, he's a very solid 3 and D player. I don't like him on this team unless significant other moves are made. We either are developing young talent or playing overpaid veterans for every position. I'd rather develop our youth or go for a bigger piece. Barnes will only decrease the value of your youth by taking minutes away from Eason, Whitmore, Smith, and even Tate.

this. Tari’s injury must be more serious than previously thought, which is devastating. Hope that’s not the case; he’s my favorite player. But if that is the case, bringing in a guy like Barnes for expirings makes some sense. I do think it creates a big logjam next season, and might impact our cap flexibility to signing free agents. So that certainly gives me some concern. If you look at Barnes’ numbers this year, his shooting is still there, but every other statistical category is basically career lows. I don’t watch much Sacramento, so I have no idea what his defense looks like. Two more years @ $18 mil…not a killer but not good.

Oladipo's contract is a bit of use it or lose it this year. If they are at King's door, could mean, they haven't found a way to use it for other things.

    Barnes
    This year 17m
    2024 18m
    2025 19m

He had a share of no show this season with the Kings. Looking more washed. Their team was supposed to better defensively (running it back), but it hasn't materialized. King's goals are higher than us this year.
    • Dipo and Landale to Kings, let's Kings shed Barne's future salary commitment.
    • Barnes here will still be more useful than Landale. A new roster spot is also opened.
    • It's more of a lateral move and reshuffle. We get a relatively better player at a longer, but bigger contract.
    • Barnes is a more known name and might fetch more down the road.
I don't hate it from a contract management pov, but I can see people scratching their heads, since people wanted a backup C, or another back up guard.

We're offering Dipo and Landale. So it's more of a bottom tier for bottom trade. Not sure what people were expecting.

but how bad does it constrain our free agency money though? At the very least I was hoping the Jeff Green, Jock Landale, and Vic expirings would open up an opportunity to sign an impact free agent this summer. @BimaThug ?
