Team would have to cut Boban. Biyombo would be fine while Tari is out, but as soon as Tari is back, Jeff Green as a backup center will look good again. I doubt Biyombo is willing to sign knowing that he wouldn't play much once Tari is back.

I may be wrong, but if we pick him up off waivers wouldn’t he have to come?

I don't think we meet any of the criteria below to claim Biyombo on waivers. Claiming someone on waivers using the MLE or room exception isn't listed as an option. Unfortunately, the trade exception from the KPJ trade is under Biyombo's $5M salary.

He has a $5M contract. The largest trade exception the Rockets have is $4.5M. I don't think the Room Exception can be used for a player on waivers until next season. The Rockets don't have enough cap space.

Am I missing a way the Rockets can make a waiver claim?

    Edit: What MrB said.

It's entirely possible that the $4.5m TPE from KPJ is enough to do the trick.

Remember that NBA contracts are prorated on a game to game basis and that Memphis has already paid him for 30 games this season - that's $1,829,268.29
The Rockets have 46 game remaining and would owe him $2,804,878.04

Is it just me or are the Rockets not mentioned at all in trade rumors? Not really a complaint, just interesting.

The Rockets were mentioned in the Donovan sweepstakes.
No more than just someone's speculation though.

Think the Hawks would be interested in Ja. Green, Oladipo, and the Net's FRP for Dejounte Murray? I would even consider adding more. He'd be perfect. He also provides good flexibility going forward since he can play the 1 or 2.

Now: FVV / Murray / Brooks / Smith / Sengun
If Cam works out: Murray / Whitmore / Brooks / Smith / Sengun
If Amen works out: Amen / Murray / Brooks / Smith / Sengun

Murray is apparently in high demand--quite the bidding war going on.

The only way I'd consider trading for a 27yo non-superstar is if he comes cheap, like the deal you listed or less. Murray won't come cheap, it sounds like. I think you'd have to give up Green + multiple first rounders, and he just isn't worth that to us since we're not contending this season or, likely, next season either.

lbj would want his 'klutch' boys in cleveland for his last 'ride-s' with his son --thompson already came back there--he needs fvv's volume 3-pt shooting-thus fvv already practicing here in Houston- 14 attempts the last game

Would love to get Simons. They probably see him more as a guy to build around than trade though.

It's a shame Jalen and Amen didn't show up to play against Chicago. I'd throw both those guys in a deal to bring back Coby White. Chicago would laugh in our face at that offer. . And I wouldn't blame them.

From a pick standpoint, we probably have the best pick this year owned by any buyer.
