In his interview this morning, in addition to what he said above about New England, I was surprised to hear he follows WWE. He knew all the current wrestlers and they talked about the upcoming Royal Rumble a little bit. He mentioned CM Punk and LA Knight, so he definitely keeps up. I thought that was great.
If it isn’t broke don’t fix it But I do see Caserio as a guy who would love to add another brain and set of eyes to the team. He’s a true team guy He just shouldn’t give up any power tho
You're thinking too much about it. I'm pretty confident that Caserio is not going ANYWHERE, especially with where the Texans are headed. He's so close. He's always saying "whatever is best for the team". And what's best for the team currently, is him as GM.
You're probably right. After I posted I went back and looked at the news stories of his contract with the Texans and he's apparently one of the highest paid GMs in the league. So that probably takes the money factor off of the table, not to mention that we probably would know by now if Belichick was fired.
One thing that I think is overlooked a lot of times is the job a head coach has in making a GM look good. GMs can acquire all the best talent in the world, but if the coaching staff doesn't utilize them well, it can still make the GM look like they are bad at their job. I think the Culley/Lovie duo didn't do Nick any favors these last couple years. I know that Nick hired those guys so ultimately it is on him what the final results are, but he clearly has made the right call now. But Nick has to realize that having the right foundation in place is important for him to look good on moves like trading up for a Nico Collins. So I can't imagine him changing to another team where he may again have to play coach roulette hoping that he can make a hire that will get the most out of the talent he acquires.
