The FSU players quit before the game even began. FSU had a legitimate gripe about not being in the playoffs, but they got so butthurt over it that they decided that the Orange Bowl didn't matter. 23 players held out either because of the Transfer Portal or declaring for the NFL Draft. That definitely affected the game but Georgia was so dominant that it's hard to see FSU winning even if everybody played. FSU will still use it as an excuse for why they lost and why they still belonged in the playoff. I've heard people saying that students opting-out because of the NFL draft won't be an issue with the new 12 team playoff because more players will play with the national championship on the line. But if you're playing in the 1st round, that's potentially 4 extra games for you to get injured and affect your draft stock. I don't know how many, but students will definitely still opt-out of playoff games.
Eh, not gonna put much stock into a meaningless game that many FSU players sat out. Sure, FSU probably still would've been stomped by Georgia had their starters played or if they were put in the CFP, but they still earned the right to play in the CFP.
No, FSU did not earn the right. They barely beat a bunch of crappy teams. They have a valid argument but it's not black and white. I'm not sure if Texas earned the right to be in the CFB but they had the most impressive win out of any team in the CFB. They beat Alabama who beat the invincible Georgia team that hasn't lost in forever, convincingly.
How much stock have you put in the "meaningless championships" that have been going on for the past 100 years? Why is this one different?
5 wide on 1st down after running it down their throat the previous drive is a prime example of why I hate Sark, win or lose!
Because each and every year, my #1 CFB wish is for Alabama to NOT win the Natty. My #2 wish is for UGA to not win it. IMO, UGA has the most talented team by far. They would have dominated the CFP if Alabama hadn't beaten them.
