Yup, exactly as I predicted. You realize that don’t have to give an opinion on everything, whether you understand it or not?

Let me simplify it for you - it is a compliment to the Rockets. It says that given strength of schedule and point differential this season they could have an even better record except for some bad luck and or some close “50/50 losses.” It says they are even better than their record. It doesn’t say they are behind schedule. It has nothing to do with preseason expectations. You haven’t “debunked” anything, because there is nothing to debunk and you have no idea what you are talking about.

Ignorance is fine. Ignorance met with lack of curiosity (“why should I try to understand?”), compounded by obstinance (“I couldn’t possibly be wrong”), topped off with ego (“surely the world must know my opinion on this thing I don’t understand”) is the absolute worst.

 

The Starter have on aggregate but I do think the bench actually performed better than their real talent (that is with Amen and Cam out of the rotation)

 

Basketball Reference says they should be at 14-8, and I’d think +-1 game is well within margin of error of the model.

 

I am surprised at how fast we got good, but one thing I'm not surprised about is that the old-ass teams are underperforming. Been saying all along that if we were going to make the playoffs it would be because we have at least one young breakout player and outperform expectations, in combination with a lot of the teams in the west being old and/or injury-prone.

Sure enough, Sengun is having a breakout season, and the "playoff contender" teams behind us in the standings are all the California teams except SAC (old as hell), New Orleans (injury-prone), and Phoenix (also pretty damn old and has been riddled with injuries). Then there's Memphis, which I didn't expect--they were still pretty good despite losing Ja for 20+ games last season--but they've had a huge rash of injuries too, and we did take Dillon from them.

Point differential is a dumb stat to begin with since points don't carry over game to game and teams play scrubs at blowouts to curb PD.

The other dude said "Based on SRS they SHOULD be 17-9" which doesn't sound like a compliment at all. In fact your post doesn't sound like a compliment to the Rox either, why should the Rox have 2 more wins? They are already outperforming all expectations. The fact that it says the Rox are below target means SRS is a dumb Stat which is what I originally said. If they have an even better record they would already be 3rd in the West and while I love the Rox, pretty clear they aren't that good.

 

Good for the Rockets! Certainly looking a lot different than at the start of the season.
