"Thanks to as many as 21 million fans in Japan tuning into his games, advertisers, especially Japanese companies, are buying up ad space in stadiums. Research by a Japanese economist revealed the two-way player helped generate revenues for his team and advertising sponsors upwards of US$330 million during the 2022 season."

For 10 years? The length of the contract is the risk.

The number of games is irrelevant. It’s about the overall money being generated and their cut.

So then you agree that oil and gas companies, and corporations making billions in profit should have to pay employees a huge pay raise, and minimum pay should be at least $100 an hour?

The employee has to be essential enough to command the money. Rank and file workers don’t generally fit that bill. There’s no obligation to share profits unless the employee has the power to demand it.

An NFL QB has no comparison in your analogy. They are the most important person in a multi-billion dollar enterprise, and it’s not even close. A great QB is worth a fortune.

Nor is the chances of making the big leagues, let alone being an all-star, all that high.

Its still far more likely that an ok HS and ok college football eventually makes it on a future NFL roster than it is a great HS or great college baseball player makes it on a big league MLB roster.

And then you factor in the international component in baseball and the odds are even more stacked against someone making it.

Glad to see Ohtani stick to his guns, and prove people right about his upstart mentality. Nobody ever thought a plucky little team like the Dodgers could get a player like Shohei, but good for him! This is mostly tongue-in-cheek, but it's irritating to see guys like Soto and Ohtani go to the big bads while media and the fans suck them off, while also CONTINUING to vilify the Astros when they've done something no other mid-market team has been able to do. This era of the Astros should be considered even greater than the stats suggest considering we've done it all with our own homegrown talent, while taking down big market after big market head to head. But instead, when you talk to anyone outside of Houston, the Dodgers are STILL considered to be the "best run organization in baseball." It's a ****ing joke.

I like what he did there but had no idea you could do that...........he wants the team to add more pieces. But dam, you deferred 680 million.........thats beyond generational wealth. Man, I am gonna hate the Dodgers even more now

Reading a lot of post talking about inflation and 700 million won’t be 700 million in 2034 or whatever lmao. My $20 dollars right now better be worth $20 dollars in 2034 or I’m whooping uncle Sam’s ass. Uncle Ben, the uncles whoever. Aunt Jammama can get this whoopin too! *** outta here with that nonsense. Inflation lmfao.

7 out of 10 is a win for them. Near double Correa's cancelled contact where teams knew about his knees mileage

I don't think I've ever seen an organization/city give him the keys as if he were a Yakuza mom boss, LMFAO.

Future money is risky if you ask me. There's no guarantee you get any of it. Label him an oligarch. stop payment, and seize his assets. Outside of that if it helps the Dodgers, good for them. They are seizing the moment. The Astros should be doing the same thing.

Given those deferrals in his contract, you might as well add Hyperinflation to this list.
