I've looked and can't find it, listening to Vandermeer's calls of the 4Q would be fun. While you're at it, go find the spanish highlights too.
If it's not our offensive line unable to make proper openings, or it's not Slowik's approach or play designs, then YES, we need a RB badly. I just can't help think it's a combination of all 3. We simply can't keep rushing and getting nowhere to be effective as an offense, and need to fix that problem to keep CJ from getting brutalized down the road.
You're not wrong. Rewatching it now, and he would/could have thrown for 600 if he hadn't missed 4 or so throws in the 1H
The run blocking is ****ing atrocious...next game (or replay of this one) don't watch the ball, watch the blocking Also, Tampa had Vita Vea back yesterday, and he made a huge difference in the middle, as great DTs tend to do
The running backs are routinely being hit behind the line of scrimmage. That is purely an offensive line and/or scheme issue. No way to evaluate any running back fairly with that going on.
Too much action/movement/pulling going on for the personnel we have. We loaded up on power gap linemen. If Zone is here to stay we will need to get more agile and athletic OL to make it work. Slowik should put 2 and 2 together and modify the blocking scheme.
I think it's a work in progress. We have to keep them guessing and not telegraph the play as an either/or where they can concentrate on stopping one thing. We have to make them pay for guessing.
I can't believe we have an actual OL coach now. We've had ****ing dumbasses come in and out of this franchise who couldn't do the job. To work with 3rd stringers, injuries, etc. and to keep C.J intact to do his magic.....I give Chris Strausser his due props for what he's had to do.
He said it in the post game interview- speaking on the 1 min drive, he said 'just getting it going is so important', about the first completion to Schultz up the middle. After that he just let it rip. I dont think it was asked, so never confirmed, but I think it was drawn up.
Looking at how the left side of the O blocked down and how Stroud was following the RB, that's absolutely a schemed play...old school option football with a modern twist Also, that was a hell of a pitch by Singletary, could've been a disaster
So, with all that being said, do we need to trade a couple guys and pick up a couple free agents to give us an offensive line that can effectively block for the run, or do we just keep hoping these guys can get good enough to do what we need them to do and go for a defensive FA? I'd prefer the best offensive linemen available.
It's pretty cool that we have a team good enough that bad losses will likely come back to haunt you, lol. Yeah, wherever this goes, there will be no way to explain how *this* team lost to Carolina at season's end.
