Jalen just posted a message on his story for the haters. “ion forget nun stay on that side.” it means. I don’t forget anything, please stay on the other side.”
How do you move him when he is one of the better performers on that team.......even when he is getting limited playing time. You move him when the all the others are performing as well.
If this is true then explain how he ended up with an obviously below average .538 TS% on 42/34/78 splits...
I cautioned to not put a label on this Phase 2, Phase 3 stuff, nothing really good comes out of that. Esp. with this kind of brass and head honcho who think basketball is a marketing tool.
Not that it matters but the expectations were unrealistic from the get go, some saying he would be the next Kobe. Living up to the hype was damn near impossible. Someone made a thread about his looming extension - damn that, the team hasn't even picked up the option for next year yet (according to Spotrac) - they have until 0/31/23 to pick up that option at $12,483,048. Jalen Green Contract, Salary Cap Details & Breakdowns | Spotrac Picking up that extension is critical as if they do not, he becomes an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of the season. While I think it's probably a no brainer that they exercise the extension, I don't think he's ever played up to the price tag of either the #2 pick or the cap hit that comes along with it. He's been compensated for potential he's yet to reach. That's the problem with players coming into the league so young and raw - teams are really rolling the dice on these young prospects to live up to the billing and they seldom do. That 2021 draft has been an unmitigated disaster for the league in general, generating no real stars so far, just a few pretenders. Take a good look at the 21 draft - 1 Cade Cunningham has been injured and his play has been nothing more than passable. Real disappointment so far for a #1 overall. 2 Jalen Green hasn't even been the best player on a terrible team full of teenagers that hasn't won more than 22 games in 3 years. 3 Mobley had a good rookie year and a so so sophomore season. 4 Barnes was my choice at #2, had a great rookie year and like Mobley a mediocre 2nd season. 5 Suggs has been a bust, no two ways about it. 6 Giddey maybe the best player in the top 6, still can't shoot. 7 Kuminga nothing in the first two seasons says he's an NBA player. 8 Franz Wagner maybe the best player in this draft. 9 Davion Mitchell - .318 shooter from distance limits him to a bit part. 10 Ziare Williams .298 from distance. Only starting because Ja is suspended. 11 James Bouknight bench player at best. 12 Joshua Primo 2 way contract (lucky to be in the league at all) 13 Chris Duarte - back up, at least the Kings picked up his 4th year option, more than can be said for several picked ahead of him. 14 Moody - Curry's back up 15 Corey Kispert 12th dude on the roster at best 16 Sengun the best player on what has been a terrible team 17 The only 50/40/90 player in this draft, still shooting 40% from distance, gonna miss half the season with an injury. I hoped he would fall to us @ 23, no such fortune. 18 Tre Mann Lucky to have a roster spot 19 Kai Jones - out of the league. 20 Jalen Johnson Dude product might be coming around. 21 Keon Johnson - out of the league 22 Isaiah Jackson 3rd string Pacers. 23 Garuba 2 way contract 24 Christopher 2 way contract. 25 Quentin Grimes Starting for the Knicks. Have to go back to pick 8 to find the last starter from this draft. 26 Bones Hyland Backing up Westbrook in LAC. 27 Cam Thomas - backup to a backup. 28 Jaden Springer DNP-CD 29 Day'Ron Sharpe Back up on a bad team 30 Santi Aldama - Who ?! (Decent player). In year 3 there's 8 starters out of that entire 1st round and two of those probably shouldn't be (Suggs & Green) and maybe one you could argue should be (Bones Hyland over Westbrook). The top 10 has at least 6 disappointments. The next 10 has 3 useful players. The next 10 - 3 useful players. Literally 2/3rds of the draft are below expectations.
