Are Democrats really spending a lot of time on issues most Americans don’t care about or is that a narrative that the right is pushing? It seems like “woke issues” is far more talked about on the Right than it is by Democrats.

Also yes it is hard for one party to control another party when you don’t hold the majority. That said Democrats have seen to have gotten better of Republicans on things like the deficit and continuing resolution deal.

@Nook has no idea what the hell he's talking about. If you look at any polling from the past 2 decades the top issues have always been, prescription drug prices, gun violence, climate change, and infrastructure . Democrats have delivered on 4 issues but somehow the party is useless according to him. Such a dumb thing to spew when the other party is literally filled with domestic terrorists and you're making up bullshit about the only party governoring. All he's doing is carrying water for the GQP

This deranged obsessive "both sides" view that we have that both parties are useless is exactly whats wrong with America. We give the republicans a free pass and its mindblowing

This deranged and r****ded view that "both sides" are bad in everything and both parties are incapable of governoring is the sort of deranged mindset which has brought us Trump. Folks like @Nook are exactly what's wrong with this country with their obsessive "both parties are useless" bullshit.

When you repeat this deranged "democrats are useless" bullshit and when folks vote for trump don't act surprised.

You know what is funny, I think both sides actually agree on over 75% of things.

    1. Term Limits
    2. Age limits
    3. Reasonable gun controls
    4. Removing lobbyists
    5. Balancing the budget

But the GOP makes it about culture war.....and grift.

    1. Abortion
    2. No gun restrictions

The Dems should be HAMMERING the other stuff that American's agree......that is how you win and change the narrative......when Abortion comes up...don't engage, say it is a choice between a person and their god, not government and move on.

Stop engaging in the propaganda that the GOP has they know they are unpopular so they try to confuse people by screaming the loudest and making a circus.....ignore the circus - CALL IT OUT - and focus on the issues.

They are the adults in this situation, act like it.

    1. Democrats DID pass the first gun safety law in over 20 years which is making a huge difference already and saving lives

    2. Democrats tried to pass HR1 which would ban dark money in politics and remove surper pacs

    3. Democrats latest budget proposal of 2023 had 4 trillion dollars in tax hikes and it was shown to decrease the deficit by 3.1 trillion over the next decade

What you're claiming Democrats should do they're already doing yet their still labeled "the most useless governoring party" by serious folks

I don't think they are doing a good job of ADVERTISING their accomplishments......they need to be constantly touting them.....over and over until it is a narrative....

The funny thing is Nook and @Salvy love to claim democrats don't care about ordinary people and they're suffering more now than ever before? It's funny when you ask people about their personal finances they're opinion are completely different than what they think others are going thru

It's the power of propoganda and media

You can disagree with @Nook logic, but one thing is for sure - a lot of Americans in the "middle" think along the lines he is representing. Perception trumps reality as we have all learned these past 7 years.

I agree 100% that normie Americans think like him which is why I've said we need to find an end to this war before election day cuz Americans care more about gas prices than democracy. I never disagreed

My issue is with him saying it cuz he should know better cuz he's educated and visits these forums. Democrats have gotten alot accomplished which voters have always claimed was super important to them. The issue is majority of them don't know Democrats have passed such policies cuz their more mad about gas prices.

You can't claim democrats are useless when they've gotten alot done. You can claim folks worry more about gas prices but that doesn't discount what democrats actually passed.

It's cool to say you think both parties are useless. Democrats do try to push their platform. Republicans do also, they're anti government and that appeals to their base.

It's ridiculous to pin gridlock on the parties, there isn't a clear majority on most issues or like healthcare, a lot of voters don't understand the entire concept like reducing emergency visits by keeping people healthy is to bring down everyone's cost. It's easier to relate to hyperbolic simplicity.

    P.S. to everyone
    Not looking for ACA debate

The Russian constitution states that Russia can not hold elections during wartime they must have a ministry of Truth to prevent the spread of misinformation and lies. Clearly the Russian Ministry of truth felt she was spreading lies and misinformation.

I can't wait until we have our own Ministry of Truth to stop the spread of misinformation.

Funny. I’m sure it’s not in their constitution, though. Or, if it was, I’m sure it was added through democratic means under Putin Russia.

Oh, we do have our own minister of truth. For example, you can’t lie about the products you sell. EU takes it to another level.

Things aren’t always so black and white.

Yes for decades Republicans have managed to sell their message better and largely becaue Republican messaging has been driven more by grievance and things like results and consistency matter less than what hot button emotion you can press.

The message that “government is actually doing something and we’re trying to make
It work” is harder because it does require paying attention and not getting caught up in emotion. It’s also difficult because there will always be issues. So yes infrastructure is being built and unemployment is low but gas prices are high. It’s always easier to point to what isn’t going perfectly than it is overall good.

For example a lot of the Stros forum is filled with negativity about Baker’s line ups, Montero, etc.. even though the Stros are back in the playoffs and pulled off an improbable winning of the AL West. It’s still easy to point to things going bad.
