Somehow I think Dems working with McCarthy would help Trump next year.

Better folks blame the GOP for government paralysis if the economic numbers hint a downturn.

I've always thought that we almost have to let the GOP royally screw up over and over to speed up the suburban realignment. There's still quite a bit of voting downballot for Republicans and lots of suburbs around places like Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Houston, Dallas, Indianapolis, etc.. are still pretty Republican leaning.

Republicans behaving like absolute clowns is a pre-requisite to speeding up a suburban shift. If a place like Fort Bend County was in Minnesota or Illinois, it'd be voting 20 points more Democratic. So Dems need all the help they can get to get voters to start voting for Democrats. Glad to see that the Dems held firm and didn't bail out McCarthy.

Sure but McCarthy clearly should've seen this coming. You can't reason with people who act like they enjoy committing arson for funsies. Most of the group that voted against him just enjoy obstruction. They behave like people who take hostages but have no actual demands so you can't secure the release of the hostages.

You simply can't negotiate with people like that and McCarthy was fooling himself when he thought otherwise. His only path was if he held firm and didn't change the rules on the motion to vacate. He should've said no deal and just waited them out. He kept negotiating with the hostage takers and since they have no real demands, they just kept making up new demands and shifting goal posts.

What a joke you morons have turned the country. None of you folks have any interest in governoring but rather burn the entire country down. Single handily destroying our image on the global stage. Xi nd Putin are probably on the phone laughing at us.

I just don't understand how the **** can people vote for the modern day republican party. What a shitshow

Dems were smart to not be suckered into bailing out Kevin. He would have both knifed them in the back the next day and he was always going to get voted out later again anyways. He had no power to give them anything in return.

Now there’s a chance they actually do have some leverage here as MAGA won’t be able to decide on a speaker and there’s a chance for a deal. Super small chance but there’s a chance for a power sharing circumstance that out flanks the extremists. More than likely though it’ll just be Scalise or Gym Jordan taking over and it’ll be more of the same.

Cantor is 47 and McCarthy is 45 here, not exactly spring chickens.

...well, I guess they are for the GOP.

In the long scheme of things the republican voters will still vote republican even if they get @$$ fked by the republican politicians and their shenanigans. Mccarthy being ousted by his own party probably doesn't even faze them.

we're $33 trillion in debt, the border is wide open, cost of living is skyrocketing, we're shoveling tens of billions to the Ukrainian kleptocracy.

Who cares who the Speaker is?
