HOU pick is top-4 protected, so the Rockets MIGHT keep their own pick. BKN pick is unprotected. Rockets get it no matter what.
It is saying the Rockets are likely not a bad team or bad enough to be in the Top 4. Merely a prediction.
How did the Rockets NOT get their 2024 1st Rnd Pick back in the Josh Christopher trade??? We gave them JOSH CHRISTOPHER!! I mean come'on!!! There it's done and out of my system. #firestone
After the Rockets have filled out every position through the last 3 drafts I'd be wondering why they would want to be in another draft barring another LeBron. P.G. - Amen Thompson (6-7) S.G. - Jalen Green (6-4) S.F. - Tari Eason (6-8) P.F. - Jabari Smith Jr. (6-11) ..C. - Alperen Sengun (6-11) 6th Man - Cam Whitmore (6-7)
The higher the nets pick thee better it is for a trade. The best scenario for us if the dame/Giannis combo sucks and Giannis wants out. We would be a team well positioned to bring him in.it probably means Sengun, whitmore, cam and all the net picks and swaps plus some future rocket picks. Amen, green,Tari,Bari Giannis. Best defensive team ever
given the way the lotto odds work, the rockets can significantly improve their record and still have a legit chance at a top 4 pick. We’ve been cursing the flat lotto odds for the last 3 years. In the 2024 draft we’ll be grateful.
Better odds than 10-15 years ago......but let's be humble. There is also an odd chance that the 7th worst record has a decent chance into the 4th spot among insiders. last year's Pacers with a 35-47 record. 8th Wizards with the same 35-47 record 9th the Jazz with a 37-45 record. Which would be 35 Wins .....probably a tad below the projected 38-41 Wins among optimistic fans. But beware that next year's draft does not boast many All Star type players but more Starting level players.....so it is just a wash with so many sophomores without much Playing Time. You are just going to trade away talents to make room.
oh I’m definitely for trading the Brooklyn pick and our pick (if we luck into a top 4 pick). We definitely have to focus on developing the talent we have. We have 6 developmental players with all star potential. I don’t think we can add another rookie unless they are a long term euro-stash or something. After this season, we’ll have a much better idea of what we have and what we need. The time is coming to turn our draft assets into something real. Unfortunately I don’t trust stone to do that well. But one can hope.
Wouldn't that be just the craziest damn thing if the Nets pick hit at #5? 2021 - #2 2022 - #3 2023 - #4 2024 - #5
So Brooklyn is currently sitting 6-7 at the tail end of the lottery. On the downside for us, Cam Thomas had a tremendous first 8 games and has been far better than anyone anticipated. He's probably the leading candidate for MIP if he keeps this up, with Sengun and Maxey right behind him. However, he has been dealing with an ankle injury and hasn't played since November 8th, so we'll have to see when and how well he comes back from that. Nic Claxton also missed time but has come back and put in five solid games for them so far. Ben Simmons did play five games this season, and he looked okay (albeit nowhere near his best), but he's out again with more back troubles, what else is new. Mikal Bridges has predictably come back down to earth on offense and is again averaging 20 off of pretty-good efficiency, just like his overall numbers last season. Anyone who expected him, at age 27, to continue his small-sample hot streak with the Nets last season, I think was overreacting. He's still a very good player, but not a star player. I think how good our pick ends up being is largely going to depend on how real Cam Thomas' 8-game dominance turns out to have been. Was it Temporary Linsanity or the beginning of a breakout season from a young star, or somewhere in between?
The Nets will plodder through the entire season around .500. They are a play-in team in the weak eastern conference. Unless Mikal misses games (unlikely from an Iron Man candidate).
Agree with this except that, the way things are going, it looks like it might be Jalen Green who is the 6th man.
6-8 after tonight. Need to be patient as the Nets are still in the process of imploding. This is a team, for the most part of role players. Ben Simmons oviously isn't going to stay healthy...forget about him, and what he was managing to contribute. Dinwiddie has played well, but again glorified role player. Now, Cam Thomas could be a big time player. We'll see. They've been competitive, but it's a matter of time, as they're already coming apart. Unless they make some serious moves, we're going to have an even better pick from them this year. Will they make it to the deadline, and become a buyer? I don't think so.
